2016 HD Headlamp Install on a 2015 1500 SLT

I feel like you aren't listening to anyones posts hah You need a capacitor and that MIGHT fix your problem. One is controlled by PWM and one is not. PWM to simplify, is a way of controlling power supply to a device. To give you an example: If you want to control the brightness of an LED, you would use a resistor or a potentiometer to adjust the level of energy supplied to the LED which is the analog method. If however you wanted to cut those out of the equation, then you would need to use PWM which is a digital method to produce analog results by small pulses. The reason they are staying on is that they are still receiving power, but in pulses not a steady stream. In order to fix that problem you'd need an inline capacitor large enough to accept those pulses and store up power, but also effective enough to let out a constant stream of energy to the bulbs. Basically it has to fill faster than the draw. If anything you might notice it takes your lights 1-2 seconds longer to turn on at first because the capacitors aren't full but after that it should run fine.

Where can I get a capacitor that hooks into the stock wiring connector?

Just order some off eBay once you know the size capacitor you need. You need to know how much your heads draw, and how much your truck supplies, then choose a capacitor that makes up the difference.

Gen5diy.com is making me a harness... It's basically a relay to consistently power my new headlights, big props to Jarod over there, he has been a huge help!

Well I'm planning to sell my original headlights for $800 (for the pair), so I think $400 is a worthwhile investment to get OEM HID lights.

Just my humble opinion. I'm just glad we have options!

My thoughts exactly. A good retrofit with new projectors is well over $500, plus it is a HUGE hassle to install, so this is the best route to go IMO.

Can you post the part numbers for the HD headlights? Thanks!

According to my catalog that I used for looking them up they list them as the HID T4F on a GMC Z88 FYI.

It would be nice to see somebody compare these HID's to aftermarket kits. It looks like they're 25 Watts:

Of course with a better projector they may be better than the stock projectors with 35 or even 55 watt setups. Installation simplicity and reliability should be dramatically better than aftermarket systems. Maybe that's worth $625 each for some people:

Here are some images I snapped last week. My phone camera is a little deceiving (I think the beam pattern is even better than the pictures), but did the best I could.

The beam pattern is definitely a huge upgrade over my stock 2015 headlights with the Morimoto Sierra Spec kit.

I just drove a 2016 silverado with the HID headlights for about 5 days.

The cutoff line is very clean, and they're so bright they made getting too close to the car in front of mine at a redlight uncomfortable.

Signs on the sides of the road with the brights on were unreadablly bright.

I loved them, except for the fact that everything looked like it had no color at all.

I'd say its a good system. I haven't used HIDs in the 2015 headlights, but I did use halogen in the stock projectors and they were nothing to write home about.

Just wanted to give a quick update... The (free) harness that Gen5Diy sent me was finally installed today (I've been out of town or would have done it sooner), FIXED MY FLICKERING PROGRAM. Headlights work great now!!

Jarod and Gen5 was very helpful and provided great CS.

So is it like a harness used for the aftermarket HID kits? How was it laid out do you need to plug into the connection behind the dust cap and cut a hole in the cap like you would aftermarket kit? Or does this gen5 harness connect to the harness going to the entire headlight assembly? I was originally interested in this because the headlights would plug directly into factory harness going to the headlights and no need for extra wires going to the battery. Also no need for ballasts mounting outside the head light.

The beam pattern looks good ion the pics you posted. I just installed the Sierra Spec kit and while its nice, it does highlight the poor OEM halogen projectors. If the CAN/US exchange rate wasn't so bad I'd get a set of those HD lights.

The harness plugs directly in between the OEM headlight harness cable and the OEM headlight plug on the outside of the headlights. No external ballasts as they are all self contained inside the headlamp. The harness also includes a wire for the positive terminal of the battery to give the headlights a consistent power source.

Really easy to install and looks relatively clean.
