They are quite a bit more expensive. The truck came stock with 17s which looked way too small on that big bulky body, so I went with 33s and 20s. After a year or 2 even those looked too small. So I stepped it up to 22s and 34.5s and it looks the best to me and was worth the added cost. You know what they say, you gotta pay to play!

Mine came with 22s and 32s. I upped it to 17s and 33s and purchasing the wheels and tires actually cost me less than getting those 285/55r22s. Now I wish I could fit some 34-35s but at 3” lift and 0mm offset my truck just barely clears the 33s. I use and abuse it so slight rubbing will end badly. And 22s even with 35s just isn’t enough sidewall for some of the rough roads I see. I have 3 dented 22s to show for it.

Are your control arms "stamped steel"? Is your truck a 2016 with Magneride? Mine is a 16 Denali 1500 Magneride with stamped steel control arms and I'm having trouble finding a 2.5 inch leveling kit. What brand of kit did you get? Thanks.

I have the same setup. Mag ride and Stamped Steel.  I just ordered a 2.5" leveling kit from Rough Country

I have the same setup as well with Stamped Steel A-Arms. I used the SuspensionMaxx 2.5 Leveling kit with 2" rear Blocks. 285/55r22 Ridge Grapplers

Looks awesome any rub?  What are your fender measurements after the kit and tires?

It does rub but not anything that matters it rubs on full lock but these tires are super aggressive. I don't remember exact measurements but it was around 4" total with lift an tires. When it ever stops raining here I will check it

Awesome thank you! looks exactly like what I’m looking to try and do I got the Rc up front for now with the stockers but wanted to see the measurements compared to mine since I have no rear blocks currently

I have a 17 denali ultimate with magneride and want to keep my OEM wheels.  I'm looking to do about a 2.5" front and maybe a 2" rear block and run the 285/55/22.  There really aren't many level kits specifically for the magneride. I have seen the Suspension Maxx kit but im not real sure about the "Maxxstak" and how it will last over time.  The Rough Country is out of stock for my stamped steel control arms.  It looks like the Proryde might be compatible but I don't see brackets and a hole in the top for the wires to run through.  Did anyone recalibrate their speedometer to the new tire specs, and who did you get to do that for you?  It looks like the speed will be off 4+mph with the bigger tire.

This thread is awesome!  Can't thank you guys enough for sharing all the great info.  It helped me go up in sidewall profile to 285/55R22 Terra Grappler G2s from the stock 285/45R22 tires and gave me the confidence of knowing exactly what I was getting into with my 2014 GMC Double Cab Carbon 22 Edition.  Thank you!!!

As expected, I do have the tiny rub on full lock turns that I anticipated based on the helpful info in this thread.  Should be a very easy fix to tie back the fender liners, trim them a bit, and/or maybe even put a heat gun on them and reshape them.  It's so minor, I could probably just live with it as is.

My suspension mods are the MotoFab 2.5" Front / 1" Rear kit which uses an upper spacer on the front struts along with the Rough Country upper control arms to improve the ball joint angles.

Can anyone running the LT285/55R22 Terra Grappler G2's or something very similar comment on what psi you've had the best luck with?  Most of my driving is city/hwy miles with a small amount of gravel roads and light towing mixed in on occasion.  The sidewall indicates a max of 80 psi.  The shop sent me away with 37 psi which is definitely too low.  I've got them at 60 psi right now and that could be a bit much for an empty half ton.  I'm looking for the best wear and mileage, not too concerned with ride quality.

Thanks again!

I run a 305/45/22 with a 2.5" level and 2" wheel spacers on stock rims, they rub on the wheel liners. tires are Mickey Thompson Deegan 38 AT, the last pic is the 305' compared to the stock 285's. 8a3ead75eb8f838c57eab76c61a93e01.jpg9915220febb2952f19f30cb24b5439ef.jpgb6cc157466b357ab21a30a592d8be736.jpg

Either of you guys running the 285/55/22 ridge grapplers have lift bigger than a leveling kit? I just installed the 3.5 inch superlift kit and can’t decide to go with true 35’s or the 285/55/22 in the ridge grapplers or the trail grapplers.

    • I usually do as well or better than the sticker for mileage. Usually better going west than east. North then South. Wind makes a difference. I’m not usually a conspiracy theorist. But it did dawn on me I’m going by the vehicle calculation. Now that would be interesting.

    • What’s missing in all this is patience and investment in the future. Buy a 170K starter home. Ten years later sell it invest in a more expensive home. Eventually you’ll have a 600K home and pay starter home payments. Buy a starter car. Maintain it well. Save the payments after it’s payed for then buy an expensive car if you desire. Buy a tumbler make your own coffee, pack your lunch. Cook your own dinner. Most importantly take care of your car.
    • People mislead themselves. Statistics are highly useful indicators.   Here's the tie-in to this thread. If an oil sample tests shows a wear indicator of 7 using cheaper ACDelco oil, and a wear indicator of 2 (lower = less wear) using a particular brand of Mobil oil, and wear has a linear relationship with engine lifespan, anyone could assume that Mobil is reducing wear by more than 50% (let's just say a 200% reduction for you red state people trying hard to do math) which leads to increasing engine life by 2x. Perhaps, in a vacuum, by itself, when dreamed by AI.   Yeah?! That's what the statistic is saying, isn't it?   No, it isn't. It didn't come out and say engine life is doubled. That's a very bad assumption, and a case of severe myopia by assuming something potentially untrue about the only data point in focus.   Average cost of a new car is 50k. You bet it is.   The median cost of a new car is more like 35k. Expensive cars are skewing the perception that "average" now means a $50k price of entry for a very average automobile. And that's not true. People who don't understand statistics twist the living heck out of them to mean all sorts of things they don't actually mean.   "Average" new car payment is $1000/month. Yep, it is. And in that number are all the $35k new car buyers who bring significant equity, and the $25k new car buyers who finance the car for a month just to get a rebate, and then pay it off. Know what isn't in that number? All the payments made by people who don't finance a car.   Picking one's own data point (don't have a car payment, never paid $50k for a new vehicle, my house cost $170k, I afforded a middle class lifestyle on $4.50/hr) is just a data point. Just like earning $25/hr in an area where the median home price is almost $1 Million is a data point. In fact, it's a lot of data points given that 80% of the US population lives in/around major cities. They're not idiots; the vast majority of them do it to make a living because that's where the big money is.   The highs have become higher, lows have become lower, and how your personal mileage varies is not truth for an entire country. At the same time you can't NOT acknowledge the data. While it doesn't paint YOUR personal picture, it certainly tints the reality that you also live in, as does your single data point.
    • Glad you had success with it. I did as well, but about 5-6 months later it returned. Tried again, same result. This was after the dealer made several attempts and never even got it to slow down.
