2014-2016 gen better than previous Gen?

Hands down! This truck owns the previous generation except for those who had the vibration issues. The GMT900's were a step backward for compared to the GMT800's. The 2001-2007 had CRAPPY SEATS but the engine/transmissions were ROCK SOLID!

They look better but electrical nightmares, seat movements, terrible shifting, vibration issues, rusting frames and who knows what has yet to rear its ugly head. Lets see which do better in the long run

You know its funny how people all have different views and opinions. I loved my seats in my 02 and 06. So comfortable and soft. Liked the material too. I had cloth in both. My 15 with cloth sucks. Looks like base pkg cloth. The seat is very hard. You sit on it vs in it. It stains easily.

Love mine. I had two GMT-800s, a GMT-900 and now my K2 HD. K2 is def. the best yet, better than GMT-900. I always felt the -900 trucks were cheaper than the -800 trucks. If I had to rank, it would be K2, -800 (03-07) then -900 and then -800 (1999-2002). And no...not EVERYONE suffers from the problems that are known and out there, as there are tons of these K2 trucks with zero problems.

Keep this in mind as well...K2 was supposed to be out in 2012 but $$$ and bankruptcy forced GM's hand to "refresh" the -900 platform. K2 even rides more or less on the -900 platform with some slight tweaks here and there. The K2 facelift would have been 2014-2015 instead of 2016. So, K2 fixed what was wrong with -900 but K2 still needs some love to make it even better.

I have a 2014 with none of the above issues.

You are probably on borrowed time then.

Him and I both then, I haven't had any of those issues either.

Disagree 900>800

I wouldn't step back.

I AGREE 100% you hit the nail on the HEAD. It's interesting to see peoples thoughts. Don't even get me started with GM seats.....HA,HA at least my 2016 Sierra has a good seat!

I think a lot of the current platform haters who talk about how behind GM is of Ford neglect the current K2 was in essence limited by the 2008 bankruptcy. GM couldn't knock it out of the park with the K2 with the fiscal constraint it was under. The next Gen 1/2 ton will be the telling tale if GM can truly be innovative and push Ford in the market. There was an article in USA Today recently that said GM was making a lot of progress in bonding aluminum to steel where Ford has had to rely on adhesives, so while we haven't seen the innovation persay in the current GM products, GMs R&D is doing some innovative things ahead of Ford.

To the orginal question, the truck is light years ahead in the powertrain and interior material vs the previous gen imo.

I have had my 15 Sierra for 10 month's now and have to say...I had my 06 z71 for 9 years. And some things I think were better on my 06. Seats very comfortable and paint way thicker. I'm scared all the time I'm going to scratch my 15. In a way I do kinda feel like my 06 was built better. The new 5.3 hands down waaay more power. I just hope my new truck holds up as good as my 06 did. Sold my 06 to a friend and he has had 0 problems with it. (118,000) on it now.

Moving from a GMT-900 to a 2016, all I can say is 'wow'. Better in every way, except for the crappy seats. And the distorted dash plastic. I think time will tell in the long run for me.

Yes - my 2004 25HD LT leather heated buckets seats were the best ever for me ... better than my 11 SLT & 15 SLT ...
