No calibration required, R&R glass.

I can echo Chris. I had my windshield replaced with an HUD spec one recently and no calibration of the camera was needed.

thanks matt (and again thanks Chris)

Perhaps its OCD or something worse, but having so many different answers, I could not help myself and stopped at a different dealer (other than the one that said a calibration was required) and talked with the service manager regarding windshield calibrations for my vehicle for peace of mind....

He stated that GM did in-fact release a TSB recommending calibrations be performed on ALL windshield replacements, HOWVER, if the installer were to (road) test the vehicle after the replacement and found the ADAS (Advance Driver Assistance Systems) to operating properly, then no calibration would be necessary.

He said that with my vehicle, it would likely be OK, but if I felt the LDW was not responding correctly (miss-aligned), to bring it in and he could calibrate if for $125-$150 (don't recall exactly).

So interestingly enough you're correct and it looks like this process changed after I was done with working on the FCA Cameras in 2013. Back then they would auto calibrate but now: "

For North American SPS users, Calibration will NOT start automatically and will need to be initiated with GDS2. For European SPS users, Calibration will start automatically and will not need to be initiated with GDS2.

The calibration process for the front view camera system is necessary when a front view camera module is replaced by a new one. This process is required anytime the module is removed from it’s bracket and the front view camera module has been mounted again properly. This process shall be completed within 3–5 minutes when the correct driving conditions are met. If conditions are not met, the front view camera module shall continuously run the service point calibration until successfully completed. This process shall work across ignition cycles and shall not be required to be re-initialized at start up. If the Lane Departure Warning Switch is pressed during calibration, the indictor will flash momentarily and then stay out — this is normal operation."

If you use an OEM piece of glass you should be just fine but hey might as well do it :)

Another VERY Satisfied customer! :D

With the help from this forum/thread I am now the proud owner of a GM. Chevy Suburban LTZ/D

The final part was received today, and 2 hrs later - I have HUD with a Denali Cluster installed and operational :)

Special Thanks to:

Chris [GTPprix] for all you have done to help guid us to the correct Clusters for our applications as well as the programming magic you do so well

Thanks cmatt for sharing your adventure and advice - thanks to you I was able to find and order the correct parts the first time (color/finish)

Thanks to pgamboa for the well made wire harness at less than 1/2 the cost of the dealership price

You would have had to have an approval BEFORE ordering just like it says on the product page.

First line of product "-> YOU MUST CONFIRM FITMENT BY READING THE THREAD REFERENCED BELOW AND THEN WITH US VIA EMAIL PRIOR TO ORDERING THIS SERVICE <-"

I consider myself at least a step above a slug but I’ll be darned if I can figure out how to find the correct gauge cluster to order for Chris to program. If there is a resident parts guru who can direct me to the right one, I would really appreciate it. I’ve gotten more confused the more I read and totally understand why Chris could not ever compose a list of everything we may need. I tried going to my local GMC dealer and of course they will only order off my VIN and the Denali cluster doesn’t jive with my VIN. The oil catch can research was like first grade class, this...to me is worse then college Trig.

Ok guys some new developments today:

First and foremost against my better judgement I've gone ahead and compiled a "short list" of part numbers for the various years. This is JUST for normal Denali retrofit not for say a Tahoe cluster in a Silverado etc. We STILL need to verify these part numbers prior to purchase just to make sure we've got all of the details and your build correct.

The attachments are for GAS US SPEC ONLY. These are not for Diesel, Canadian, export etc.

IT IS STILL PARAMOUNT THAT YOU DO NOT PLUG THESE INTO YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL WE HAVE PROPERLY RETROFIT PROGRAMMED IT. THIS IS FOR YOUR PROTECTION NOT OURS. Seriously; its that important.

Second we've added a product just for this service on our website with more details and specific choices which we hope will make things easier. Also if you have upgraded to NAV or Front Parking assist etc please put that in the notes and we'll turn those functions on for you in the cluster (we can also suppress warnings etc).

Thirdly we are able to properly retrofit Escalade clusters into K2XX vehicles however due to the extra programming labor and fitment required normally never advertised it but figured we'd throw that out.

Last but not least we are officially offering 16+ module retrofit into older vehicles that have had -THE COMPLETE CAR PLAY UPGRADE DONE- (read that again its important lol). The complete car play upgrade would be a matched pair of Radio AND HMI module replaced from a 2016+. Sadly a lot of aftermarket vendors are half assing this upgrade and only replacing the HMI which causes numerous issues.

This is a major pain in the butt as we have to verify you got the right radio/HMI unit but it will allow for full correct display of Radio, the Speed limit sign as well as the sought after carplay/android auto voice control from the steering wheel. We may also be able to now back port 2017 (and possibly 18) modules back to other 16/17's however this will be on a case by case custom basis and will require extra billable labor.

I looked at the 3 part numbers on that you referenced and (maybe I am missing something) but all are Sierra 1500 clusters and I don't see the word Denali on any of them except the last one but it is 2500 with 6.0 not 6.2 so still confused

Hey everybody

Looking at getting a 2018 Silverado Ltz. Found a part number for the instrument cluster on a 2018 Sierra Denali but it says it’s not compatible. I think I read a thread that said as long as I have it reprogrammed for my vechiles VIN then it will work, is that the case?

Would you please shares the part number for the 2018 Sierra Denali? Much appreciated!

Just find a 2018 Denali VIN off of a site like Autotrader, Cars.com, etc and have the dealership look up the cluster for that VIN.  6.0 vs 6.2 shouldn't matter.  As long as it's a gas and not a diesel, you should be good.  The online part sites aren't complete and up-to-date as the dealerships.  Just think smarter than dealerships parts guys.

So am I screwed to get a blue Cluster since I’m a 2015? I don’t think the red will look good with everything else

A 2016 may fit in a 2015.5.  Check with Chris to be sure.  If you're an early 2015, probably so.

From what I understand the early 2015's, you'd be stuck with "red". If you have a later 2015 build (2015.5), you could get a blue cluster.
