And seems in your first picture you did get the top off your original, did it pop off easy?

My 2018 has them....... I gutted my 2014 and made sure to swap the center console before trade in hahaha

To have more places and secure underneath the cup holder like the 14 & 15.

its someone else but it wont pop off easy.

That cup holder set up saved me and my friend an open container ticket while on route fishing in the back country one day. I am sure it has saved a lot of drug dealers some prison time too lol.

See now thats awsome!  Why the F would they do away with an extra storgae spot and male the space un-usable?  I mean i have the 2016 and got the cup holder up and it has exactly the same space below its just i cannot access it easily.  there was no reason to do what they did.

Same here Jimmy I had a 14 and then went with a 16 and had the shock. Got used to it on the 17 and now I am just numb to it I guess on the 18 as it no longer bothers me EXCEPT WHEN I READ THIS THREAD ABOUT IT  Man now I am upset "thanks GM" ..............................................gotta go see ya bye

When I traded my 15 for an 18, I wanted those removable cupholders.  I went to GM parts direct and ordered part number 23467111, which is the top section of the console and includes the cupholders for the 14-15 trucks. The only thing you can't get is the rubber mat that sits in the bottom of the big storage area.

Does the kind of figure eight chrome plastic piece come in other colors or finishes. Mine is chrome and it reflects sunlight right into my eyes occasionally. I would like to replace it with a different one, if it’s available.

The part I ordered has 4 or 5 different finishes. Mine is an LTZ with the dark woodgrain inserts. If you're looking to match your existing inserts, you can supply your vin number to get a correct match.

I was able to upgrade to the older cupholder setup almost by mistake.

 

Ordered the GM Synthesis interior kit to get rid of the awful fake wood trim.  That kit ends up being the '14-15 center console setup.  After selling my fake wood trim, it was a fairly cheap upgrade.

 

One thing of note, is the top of the cup holder on the Synthesis kit is black, matching the black on the console.  My stock top was the metal silver top matching the dash trim.  It is a bit of a pain to swap them out but I was able to do it as I wasn't willing to lose my metal on my cup holder.

Two birds with one stone. I always hated the faux wood and cannot for the life of me understand why they got rid of the cubby.
