If you had to choose...

If you had to choose between a 2016 Denali with the 5.3, or a 2017 all terrain with the 6.2, which would you go with and why?

Easy peasy. The 6.2L!!!

While a Denali would be nice, an AT is pretty darn close to the Denali as far as options, but the 6.2L would be so much more fun to drive!

AT with 6.2 ... because no one ever complained about having too much power. I have had them both, and the 6.2 screams. Any AT with a 6.2 is likely an SLT trim level.. which has pretty much has every option as Denali anyway

I'm leaning towards the AT, but I wish they would have left it alone for 17. In my opinion, the 16 had just the right amount of chrome.

We had 6.2 in 2008 Yukon XL Denali. Loved that engine. We have 5.3 in 2012 Tahoe now, wife says not as much fun, more vrooom in 6.2

Would depend on price for me.

I noticed they dropped all the Chrome on the all terrain, not sure how I feel about that. I'm kind of a fan of chrome door handles, body molding and mirror caps.

To answer your question I would probably go with the 5.3, the idea of having to use 93 octane gasoline all the time in the 6.2, would get old

you don't have to use 93, it will run fine on 89, just not as quick. And besides, it is only a 20-30 cent a gallon difference.

If the price was the same then other factors such as color would help influence my choice. Both engines are great and not a huge deciding feature imo.

Here are the pros/cons as I see them now. Price may end up being the deciding factor for me after all. Here's what I'm struggling with, the Denali has a nicer interior in my eyes, the red and carbon fiber of an all terrain is just OK to me. Also, 17 Denali have brown wood instead of black. I hate that. Denali also has MRC. All Terrain is a year newer, and has the 6.2.

Take the 6.2l all terrain. I have a 2015 denali with the 6.2l and bought it over a 5.3l all terrain. Really wish i could have found an all terrain with the 6.2l. I also got a screaming deal on the denali that they would not match on the all terrain. The magnetic ride contol limits your aftermarket suspension accessories as far a level and lift kits.

6.2. There is no replacement for displacement. The 6.2 seems smoother to me and the AFM on the Gen V is pretty good. My lieometer says 17-18mpg with a CC 4WD and 6.2

The 6.2 is just way more fun
