2016 Silverado rear ended after 4 months!

Sorry for you guy's troubles. I always leave my hitch connected to the receiver and notice people keep their distance. Good luck with getting your trucks fixed.

I am the same towing or not, yet people love to get close to it.

Got hit by a 18 year old girl on her cell phone a couple months ago. She threw her cell phone right after she hit me and said i swear i wasnt talking on my phone. Lol. I took her phone till the cops got there so she couldnt delete anything with the time stamps. Waiting till summer to fix it in case someone decides to slide into me during the winter.

I feel your pain brother, I was ass ended at 2 months and 1600 miles, then at 8 months and 6800 miles( first brand new vehicle I have ever owned). People dont pay attention anymore. Be glad its just a bumper, Im on my third bumper and had both bedsides replaced, a hitch and exhaust. It is very frustrating, and usually the car that hits you is worth less than your deductible.

The second time I was at a dead stop and a chick blasted me doing 45 mph. I had some driveline issues after that, but yours doesnt seem to be a hard enough hit to do any driveline damage. A post above suggests pulling the battery terminal, which might not be a bad idea. I would start there and move forward. I still have my 2014 with 30k on the clock with no adverse effects to date.

Not trying to play good/bad guy, but I doubt that legally you are able to take someone else's property for evidence. You aren't an officer of the law, I don't think. Regardless of being on the phone or not, she still rear-ended you and (at least in MO) that put the fault on her. She would have to pay regardless. If you kept the phone in order for her to get a ticket for that as well...well that's just pouring bleach on a cut. #NoMercy

well, if she just threw her phone on the ground and then he found it. I'd argue that he just found a lost phone, which he could then turn over to the police to help find the owner of it.

True, I was assuming she would threw it in the passenger seat or back seat. But if she threw it outdoors, then by all means I would agree with tjn54321.

Doesn't matter. Her cell phone lists the time of all calls made and if it corresponds with the time of accident according to the stricken driver or 911 call, then depending of the state laws, an additional summons can be issued. An officer has probable cause to ask for any driver's cell phone for any MVA no matter where it's found in the vicinity. If she lies and says she doesn't have a cell phone or doesn't have it with her that can easily be proven. It can really get expensive denying culpability.

OP all those strange noises (voices) that you never heard before and that are now talking to you will never go away, they will just get worse and worse and you will end up mentally destroyed. You need to get rid of the wrecked truck right away, while you still can.......... haha just joking around but if I no longer liked the truck because of the thought of it being wrecked then yes it would be gone immediately.

Good idea in theory. I did it for a few months myself. But after a couple bruised shins and knees, the hitch now only goes in when I need it. Maybe if a guy parks it outside he doesn't have to walk that close to it in the garage.

I am going to be fine eventually, thank ya, and Yep, frame replacement, new bed, body work from where the bed hit the cab, and everything new from the core support forward on the front. I totaled the poor maxima that was in front on me.

had my 14 for 3 weeks, someone backed up into the passenger door and the whole door needed to be reskinned. they tried to leave but i blocked them in luckily. still sucks with a new truck.

I had this same view, then Mass made it illegal, for the reason it could damage other peoples cars if they hit it. my defense when the cop pulled me over and stated this was, well, they shouldn't hit me in the first place. he just asked me to remove it and left.

What I learned after driving the delivery truck at work (a pig of a Isuzu forward cab with a 20' box)...

I used to run the light to light drag race with traffic traveling the speed limit or over. I find that by driving ~ 5 mph under the posted speed limit I very rarely have to stop due to a red light at an intersection. By the time I roll up on it all the traffic that passed me traveling the speed limit or above and was stopped by the red light is starting to move because the light changed to green. On the rare occasion I do have to stop for a red light I'm always in the outside lane and I always leave myself an out. I'm ready to jump the curb if necessary due to a careless driver or someone "having a bad day" cause these days you just don't never know. Be safe out there...
