07Serria Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Are any of you guys running the N Fab steps on your 2500? I like the look of them but there doesn't seem to be much stepping area. Have you guys had any issues getting in or out of the truck with such a small platform to stand on
16Lucho Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 My dad has them on his 2500 WT, he had to weld a 2 inches tube to them cause he didn't feel safe. I'm personally going for the Magnum RT steps in about three or four months.
HeliMark Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I have them on mine. The steps are a bit small. Your foot does get a good grip because of the perforation, but not much. Really can not use them if you can only partially open the door. Length and width are not great. Would not buy them again. Chevy has factory ones simular, but bigger steps. Don't recall if they were only for the 1500 or the 2500 also. Just a bit $$. Mark Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
Chebbyfan Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I have the Go Rhino Dominator 2 black steps on my truck. I think they are ok. I have only slipped off once or twice since putting them on almost a year and a half ago. No issues I can complain about.
Big Whiskey Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 I'm running them on my 2500HD. I love the looks, and they're great for climbing into the truck. Using them to exit the truck isn't as easy. I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me. Lately, I've just been stepping out the exact same way I step in.
kevin_nj Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 I'm not very happy with them. 1: small surface area 2: slick surface area 3: only 5 mounting points on passenger side (I contacted mfg about this, due to def box, even though I have a gasser) 4: cheap mounting hardware 5: poor durability finish 6: related to #4, rattling noises; I fixed when I replaced the hardware. I did like the look before the finish went to crap. I do like the access it provides to bed toolbox. I hope to attempt to apply bed liner to them this spring. I would not buy again or recommend them.
07Serria Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Would you guys say I would be better off getting the GM tube steps??
Big Whiskey Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Would you guys say I would be better off getting the GM tube steps?? I've got a brand new set of 4" chrome OEM steps sitting in my garage. I'll make you a heck of a deal. Where are you located? You can PM me if you'd like.
HeliMark Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 I forgot to add, that the passenger side of my Nfab needed to be "adjusted" to fit properly. It was bowed in the center slightly. Here is what I would get the next time (okay, if I wasn't so dang cheap): http://www.ebay.com/itm/23194635-Silverado-Sierra-OEM-Black-Off-Road-Assist-Side-Steps-NEW-Crew-Cab-/272054764376#vi-ilComp Not promoting that particular seller. Just the steps. Mark
07Serria Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Those are definitely pretty sweet but I'm not going to pay $700 for Steps either
SILVER SLED Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 My truck came with the big chrome 2x4's, and were going to get yanked off as soon as I got home. However my 7 and 9 year old loved the idea of having a step to help get them in truck. So I left them on and did install mud flaps to keep the slush and snow off the top of them. The boards did do a great job of keeping the side of truck clean and actually made great steps, but I couldn't stand the way they looked. I finally purchased a set of n-fab black cab length bars, used for $250. I really like how they look, but aren't as good of a step as the chrome 2x4s. I think no steps at all look the best, but the kids still need a step, so I'll have the n-fabs for a while.
FASTREDGMC Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I have N-fabs on my '15. I'm on the third set due to rust and this third set is just starting to rust. Second set was showing rust within a week. Every set has started to rust at the welds. They have a 5 year guarantee on corrosion and have honored it but I'm sick of it. Ive installed the bars more times then the oil has been changed so far. As mention above steps are good for getting in but do not work good for exiting. Also passenger side rattles and creek and have to re-torque bolts once in awhile even with loctite applied. Ill be requesting a refund soon from them to deal with rust they have had 3 chance to fix it and haven't. Im going with GM steps next
DMAXNAZ Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 No problems with mine. I take it slow if thete is ice or rain.
boynton6spd Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I have the GM Chrome round tubes on mine, not crazy about them and looking to replace them. They are very narrow and I have slipped a few times already. On my 1500 trucks, I always had the wider 5-6" "board" looking steps and I personally think they are safer and more functional. Just my $.02
