Just want to give a big thanks to pgamboa.  The turn around time and help were incredible.  His videos made the swap a piece of cake.  Now it's on to the RZY harness.  I highly recommend him to anyone thinking of doing this.

I’m down to (2) sets for each trim level. If I go for a week or two without cores, I’ll end up buying new harnesses and increase price by $100. It’s all good. Just want to help as many people as I can without being in the red in doing so.

Did anybody buy a trim removal kit? Looking to buy one because I will be switching mirrors caps and don't want to break any clips.

I bought the "Motivx Tools 11pc Trim Removal Tool Set" from Amazon. I do like it. It comes with a folding bag to hold all of the tools.

Huge kudos to @pgamboa This weekend I upgraded my DL8 mirrors to DL3 it was rainy as hell but thanks to Phils Youtube videos and clear instructions it was a breeze. I purchased his DIY kit as I was comfortable with doing the electrical. However if you aren't, the plug and play harness is for you. The package arrived in 1 week which was very quick (shipping from Texas to Ontario Canada) Everything was neatly packed and labeled very professionally. There is a PDF on which pins you have to pin out that are colour matched to the corresponding wires included, very simple!! Only thing I did do different: included is a butt connector to tap in a new ground in, however instead I soldered and shrink wrapped the ground connections together for peace of mind.  (The butt connection works flawless don't get me wrong, but I guess I'm old school)

I picked up my new mirrors from a local guy selling his DL3 mirrors that never saw the road, they were pulled off at the dealership being they installed towing mirrors before he picked up his brand new truck. They were collecting dust in his garage so I picked them up for $200 cash. Couldn't turn that offer down.

I swapped off the chrome caps from the DL3 mirrors and put my black ones on (Phil has a easy video on YouTube explaining how to do so without snapping any clips)  and began the swap.

It's is funny because my dealer said this couldn't be done/or spend a fortune. My last vehicle was an 07' Chev Trailblazer it had the turn signal built into the mirror and if you didn't have that option it was plug in play no matter what trim you had, not the case for these trucks. (Phil made this possible though)

Anyways HA GM dealer I spent $260 and a Saturday afternoon all said and done... I couldn't be happier... My 17' Elevation SLE is unique now in my area with it's power folding, T signal, and puddle lamps. :D

Thanks again Phil, your knowledge and professionalism is greatly appreciated.  Don't hesitate order up folks!!

Thanks for the feedback! I also splice/solder this connection myself. I include the butt splice so that it is evident that something different needs to happen with the ground. :). Great deal on the mirrors and nice work on the upgrade!

Where is everyone getting their switch for the DL8 - DL3 conversion? EBay seems to be out.

Earlier in this thread, I received the correct part numbers for a DL3 to DQS upgrade on a 2017 Silverado 2500. Thanks for that information, it was extremely helpful

After two months, I am still going back and forth with the dealer over this. They are told by ADI that the upgrade can NOT be done - ADI won't budge. Right now I am stuck with the DPN mirrors ADI installed. The dealer acknowledges they owe me the DQS mirror, but ADI refuses to do the work.

I have the GM service bulletin that covers the upgrade for 2015 2500s. I saw one online that covers the 2016 models (but can no longer find the link).

Questions:

1. If anyone has successfully done this through a dealership, could you provide me with any details? I could have my dealer contact yours and figure this out.

2. Can anyone provide a link to a current GM TSB that acknowledges this upgrade path?

Thanks in advance for any help.

(If only pgamboa was close to me. I would have bought the mirrors and paid him to install. This frustrating process has been going on for two months).

I would have the dealer install the DQS mirrors and give me the harnesses, and I'd install them myself. That's the easiest and best way to go at this point.

With his harness, you really can do this yourself! It's not hard AT ALL. Plug and play!

    • I would have to read back to get a better picture in my mind of some of the other comments and what they were using for a driving scenario they based the fuel mileage off of. That is why the fuel mileage conversation is extremely difficult to make fair comparisons from. If I was to be living in town and only driving around town, light to light and some longer stretches that doesn't have a light every block, and the usual stop at a grocery store and the bank and so on and so forth, my fuel mileage even during the summer time would be so bad with my truck I don't even want to know how bad it would be !. Then add in winter time and idling to warm it up to clear the windows and driving through snowy streets etc, large heavy trucks with gas engines have NEVER been worth crap for fuel mileage and why some little pot licker of a car with wheelbarrow tires and a 1300 cc four cylinder non turbo engine was the ticket to using a mere fraction of the fuel over a full size pickup.    By the way my truck has the 34" tires as its a HC but not the BFG KO3 tires ( that was an option for my truck but the sales guy couldn't figure out what the tires actually were so that never got on the order until it was too late to change the truck order ). So what fuel mileage your getting actually sounds good for "town driving" and with my truck when I go to town the fuel mileage keeps increasing as I get closer to town because it takes quite a while to get the driveline oils warmed up ( and why it always shows better fuel mileage on the return trip from town because its already warmed up ) but once I am in town that fuel mileage average just keeps dropping the more I mess around town and then has to recover back to something reasonable again by the time I get home for an over all average.    I'd be curious what your sticker says for the factory weight of your truck, mine is close around that 7700 lb due to the options it has. But anyway the long and short is, vehicle weight, higher rolling resistance heavy tires and a hefty driveline and a relatively large gas engine make for crap fuel mileage in stop and go scenarios, all one can do is drive it easy off the line at each stop and as my dad had said over the years, drive like a raw egg is under your foot and that's the best one can do. Years back with a carbed engine and if the carb was getting a bit out of tune etc as would the ignition system, the fuel mileage on pickups with larger engines was just awful compared to what your getting. We pay the fuel price penalty for driving HD trucks over some little vehicle, that is the reality.
    • We had two Toyota’s with that engine in the mid 80s. We had 50 gallon fuel tanks, a toolbox full of tools, an air compressor and assorted parts for our equipment. We beat those up and down pipeline ROWs until we started buying diesel trucks. Then they became parts runners and first vehicles for our teenagers first cars. Our shop Forman wrecked them both two years apart when we hired him out of high school as an apprentice. Good thing he’s an excellent mechanic. It took awhile before he could be called a good driver.
    • I have a 2025 GMC Canyon Denali.   On a trip recently the engine failed.  The dealership diagnosed a bent valve and says there is a service bulletin that indicates to 'relace the engine'.  The truck only has about 14K miles and is under warranty.   The failure occurred 5/11/2026.   So far I have worked with GM Customer Assistance and Roadside Assistance.  Evidently no engines are available and nobody will offer a date when a new one will be.   Coming up on two months with no repair or timeline and no loaner from the dealership.   GMC Customer Assistance is 'ghosting' me and keeps closing the cases I've opened with no resolution.   Hoping someone can help me on how to escalate this issue.
