Can anyone that has ordered the DIY kit from Phil give their experience on the install process and if they had to do it again would you chose the custom harness instead?

DIY harness is a piece of cake comes with everything you need. The only advice is take your time don’t rush.

Okay where to start I did the DL8 to DL3 mirror upgrade so I bought the DIY kit from Phil. This kit is OEM quality stuff very professionally made and the instructions were very detailed that it made marking a mistake very hard to do. My install went smoothly other then me forgetting to plug the window power back in ?‍♂️other then that every question I had he would answer and give some good pointers. Will be tell my friends about this kit and the very easy plug and play harness thanks for all your help Phil

I just finished the DL8 to DL3 mirror upgrade with the harness from pgamboa and it went very smooth. I even had him do some extra wiring on the harness to do the illuminated door handles. Everything looked like factory! He even added the factory connectors for the door handles!

He answered every question I had. Great guy to deal with. Make sure you send your old harness back so he can keep this service going!

I guess it all comes down to how much time/mechanical ability you have.  The DIY kit takes a little longer, but if you're comfortable with repinning the harness and taking your time, it works great.  Everything is labeled extremely well and the instructions are awesome.  I had no issues installing mine.  The hardest part was having all the pieces here and having to wait for good weather to go out and install.

 

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. His complete harnesses look like they rolled off the assembly plant.  My DIY wires are just taped to the existing harness in the door.

Phil, have you looked into adding the escalade side mirrors?  They appear to be a little larger than DL3s.

I haven’t. I’ve seen others list DL3 Mirrors from Escalades and say they are compatible for our trucks. Seems that the bases look different but haven’t had a known opportunity to take a closer look.

Sorry ahead of time because I know this has most likely been answered, but I have a huge headache from reading all these part numbers lol.

 

So I have a 2016 Sierra SLT Premium with the Powerfold, Memory, etc. mirrors on it and I ordered new tow mirrors today (23241465/Driver and 23241469/Passenger). My question is, what is the correct part numbers for the harnesses that will make these function as they should? What would happen if I were to just hook them up into my stock wire harness?

I make these harnesses for this to be Plug and Play. If you PM me, and I can get you payment instructions to move for purchase.

Just wanted to chime in and thank Phil for helping me with my upgrade from DL3 mirrors to DQS mirrors. My dealer was doing it as part of the sale, but was having issues making everything work, Phil happily helped me out with more information and checking the harnesses that were ordered to make sure everything was right, and I could insist that the dealer do what Phil recommended. I have an 18 Sierra All Terrain with memory seats, and the part numbers that were used(to the best of my knowledge) are Harnesses: 84290965 and 84290982, Mirrors: 84041609 and 84228892. Now the dealer did mention about doing some update, but don't think it was related to the mirrors.
