Hello All,

First post, but I have a specific question about 1AAuto mirrors. I just bought a set for my truck but one of the mounting studs was broke off upon arrival. I know the optional 4th stud is threaded but are the other three as well? It would be nice to just back the broken one out and replace it alone if possible. I know PGAMBOA knows his stuff so I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks!

Update: After some trickery with some vice grips I did find that all the studs are threaded in the 1AAuto mirrors.

I have a 2014 silverado 1500 LT. Im looking at going from DL8 to DL3 tow mirrors aftermarket. Chevy dealership said i will need three harness being both front door harness and a extra harness. Where do i buy your modified harness from? If i buy your modified harness will I still need to get the other harness that chevy is saying i will need?

What mirror specifically are you looking to go with?

A few things.

DL3 Mirrors refers to the smaller power folding mirrors found on LTZ/HC, SLT/Denali trucks. So don’t confuse DL3 as tow mirrors.

Since your truck is a 2014, you will need the door harnesses and the harnesses for inside the truck/under the cabin. So this is correct.

Also, many aftermarket mirrors are not build to GM specs... so custom harnesses are usually needed.

so i have a 2014 crew cab and im looking to add dl3 mirrors. my question is can i use gm factory harnesses? i saw one video that he used 84290984 for the drivers harness and 84290964 for the pass door. is this correct? also is the only difference between the 2 mirror switches the connector portion? reason i ask is that my gm parts dude said that the one i need is on backorder and the one that doesnt fit is the common one he sells. looking online some places say that the 23154702 is discontinued. can i just modify the connector portion so it fits in or is it wired differently? also what does the cargo lamp pin provide for the mirrors? my truck has all the pins except the cargo lamp pin. if i dont add the rzy harness what wont work? sorry this seems like alot of questions. i appreciate all the help.

So i got these mirrors, they have the harness but added a wiring kit for what i believe is for the signal on the glass, lights, reverse light, and clearance. Would i just need to get the rzy harness to make this work.

I bought a used 2015 GMC 1500 SLT and it came with the towing mirrors on it. I want to know which mirrors I got. DPS or DQN? How can I tell? The sales guy said they have power folding but the wiring wouldn’t allow to power the motor on the towing mirrors, even though it had it before. I can manually fold them in, so is that still possible with motorized?

Check your Glove Box RPO codes. It likely shows DL3 which are the smaller power fold mirrors. You still have the power fold switch? It is likely that the previous had them swapped out and installed DPN mirrors instead of DQS Mirrors. If the power fold switch is there and they don’t fold, they are likely DPN mirrors.

Can you confirm that:

1. The red arrow in the glass lights up when you use the turn signal?

2. Does the amber forward light come on when your manually turn your headlights on?

3. Does the white light come with to push the cargo light button?

If you answer yes to all 3, then they installed the correct harness, but put DPN mirrors instead of DQS.

The RZY harness is needed for ALL 2014 trucks and some 2015 trucks. Since your truck is 2014, you’ll will need it. Your truck won’t have pins 9 and 11 in the door jamb connector.

In addition, you will need to decide how you want to get the mirror lights to mate with the door jamb connector. I have solutions for all this. A complete door harness set, a lower cost DIY wire kit, and can supply the RZY harness as well. Let me know which path you want to go with.

I still have the switch.
Yes, yes, and yes.
I was afraid you were going to say that. Bummer. I could use the folding mirrors when I park in the garage.

Yep. So in this case, you would need DQS Mirrors. That should take of it. You can sell your DPN to help recoup some of the costs. I can get DQS Mirrors for $1058 shipped (plus PayPal fee) if interested. PM me.

DL3 mirrors are the smaller power fold mirrors, not tow mirrors. So confirm if you can. DPN and DQS mirrors are tow mirrors. DQS is the power fold version. RZY is needed for 2014 trucks. That will take care of the cabin/under the hood side.

    • I just brought home a 2020 GMC 1500 Denali.  She has 53K miles on her and I want to change out the fluids over the next few weeks.  I see the diff covers don't have drain plugs.  Any suggestions where I can pick up front and rear diff covers with drain plugs?   Thanks,   Bob
    • Well, the dealership got the compressor and installed it. Air at the vents seems nice and cold as it should be. The service manager said the repair has a two year warranty and unlimited mileage. Hopefully I don't have to use it. The dealership i went to was one where I bought my 2014 half ton silverado. In 10 years and 168k miles on the truck anything I needed done and two small recalls they were always very good to me. Not a huge dealer either. I think they treat people well because they want you to come back. I have dealt with a different dealer that was too big to care about an individual. Just my two cents.
    • Hi All, I operate my 2021 3500 SLT most of the time with the tailgate off and in a crate because I have a slide-in camper. However, at least once a year, I take the camper off and put the tailgate back on. Recently I installed the tailgate, but had a hard time getting the connector bail to swing to the fully latched position. The connector seems to fully seat, and everything works, but the bail doesn’t swing to fully latched position.  It swings almost there but stops and I am afraid to push it any harder.    Does anyone have any advice on cleaning or lubrication or anything else I should be doing?  i know how to properly operate the connector. During the time the tailgate and connector are off, i have a double plastic bag over the truck connector secured with rubber bands to keep it clean, but it still had some dust in it this time when I blew it out with compressed air. I didn’t want to spray it with anything other than air without doing some research. Thanks.

    • Hello @jaszr2 Do you have a link for the item? I put a replacement bumper on my truck and consequently had to relocate the shutters. I studied on them a while, and figured if you left a couple key blades, you could get most of the airflow with probably no throwing codes.
