Just got a bed cover last weekend - already put the cover to use today when the wife went and bought a crib for the grand-baby - keeping it dry and secure until I get home to unload it.

I had bought the set(2 pieces) for $50 from the dealer and then saw the one on Amazon, ordered them and they have the same stamped part # and look exactly the same..

Congrats on the soon-to-be new truck. You won't forget being there when she rolled in on the car carrier. Similar experience with the wife's last new car. It was literally sitting on the showroom floor with 3 miles on the odometer. They let us drive it off the showroom floor; didn't hurt that it was our fourth vehicle purchased from this dealership. For car/truck guys like us on this forum, little events like this are not forgotten.

Yes, coming from a Titan that had the bed rails with moveable tie downs they are a must. Now will I miss that part (moveable), doubtful as I never really used them that way in the 6 years I owned it.

That truck is no good, they built it backwards.

Rigs are bought all the time without test drives, especially when factory ordered like this. My first drive for the 2017 max tow was driving home after signing papers. Same for the 2007.5 Duramax from Dave Smith Motors across the state. Many people fly in and drive away from high volume dealers like that.

 

But I sure test drove a few good examples before locating or ordering up the rigs exactly as I wanted them.........

I've been told that the vehicle on the transport positioned over the truck cab is driven on from the front of the rig using a special ramp. That position is also solidly attached to the truck vs. the rest of the transport which is a trailer.

 

The guy that invented that setup must have either backed the front vehicle on or off one to many times.

I never drove my truck till the deal was done.

I knew what I wanted in a truck, it was more of test driving the dealer for trade price and them searching for the right truck.

Dealer I settled on gave me 3k more than any other for my Yukon Denali, and went 2 hr to get the truck i wanted.

X2.......I never even test drove anything on their lot when I started shopping. Honestly it would have been a waste of their and my time. My father and brother in laws have '15 and '16 Sierras and I've driven them. My FILs Sierra is an SLT AT loaded and lives right next door so anything I needed to see, test I could do so quick and easy.

Are those special (bear more weight?) or are they the same thing that came with my truck?

 

If they are the same that the dealer/factory installs make sure to read the load rating on them, it is not very high (the weakest rachet tie down can break one...) The titan's were definitely more secure. The only things I miss from my titan are the 8'2" bed and the flawless transmission.

The PUBX tie-downs are OEM and rated at 250 lbs each - you will see the bed sheet metal will flex before any tie-down would give way. Like anything - don't over load the rating........

Good to know, so other than what you mentioned you are more than happy with the GMC over the Titan? I guess the best question is, would you do the deal all over again? What trim level did you have?

 

I went from an Titan EX long bed (no power window, locks, cruise control, carpet, etc) to an SLT with Premium Plus package... it is night and day. I am very happy with my GMC so far. Like I said the transmission hesitates and searches for gears every now and then while my Titan was solid and I never noticed any of that.

 

I obviously like all of the other features as well. I particularly like the AUTO4WD on the GMC as I would usually have to hold traffic a little while I kicked over to 4wd if I got stuck on a patch of ice on an incline previously.

 

I think both of them are great trucks from my experience so far. I was only putting ~7k miles a year on my Titan but with the nicer features I ended up putting about 20k on the GMC in my first year!

They shipped a Mexico truck to Canada? I thiught they reserved those for the southern States and the northern States and Canada got Ft. Wayne trucks? My last two were Ft Wayne and before that it was Oshawa ON.
