So I've tried searching for this but all I've found is stuff related to leveling or lifting the truck. I'm not looking for that. Simply looking for an upgrade to my stock junk rancho shocks.

 

No lift. No level. Just a more capable / better ride.

 

I'm debating between getting Bilstein 5100s or an upgraded set of ranchos, either 7000 or 9000 series. I realize the 9000 ranchos arent directly relatable to the Bilsteins because ( I think) they aren't floating piston gas shocks. But that's why I'm here. Any help is appreciated

Bilstein shocks, much better than the Ranchos. Of all the post on here about shocks, I don't remember anyone complaining about the Bilsteins.

Go with Bilstein 4600 (Yellow shock with powder blue boot). I replaced my stockers a few months back...great improvement to the ride. No more floaty ride or jounce from uneven surfaces. Its not stiff or jarring with the new shocks either.

Another vote for Bilstein 4600's if not doing a level/lift.

The stock Rancho's are far from stiff. They are definitely more soft, hence the floaty bouncy feel when you hit an imperfection in the road.

 

I heard the 5100's are just as stuff riding as the stock ranchos?

I have the Bilsteins and I think they're great. You do feel a little more from the road and it's a tiny bit more sharp feeling. However you get rid of the jarring, bouncing and the funky feel if the stock shocks.

Like I said in my first post, 99% of what I read by searching was guys wanting to level their front ends and / or lifting their trucks. So most of that doesn't apply. I simply want to get rid of the "pogo sticks" I have now and get real shocks in there.

One thing you should know is bilstein rear shocks are mounted upside down and they look very stupid with the shock boot on bottom!Myself spent a little more and went with the Rancho 9000's

The Bilstein 4600's aren't. As for the 5100's being mounted upside down, not once has anyone said to me "hey your shocks are upside down". Bilstein even says they'll work either way.

The stock ranchos were mounted the samd way. Really who cares if the dust boot is on top as long as the shock works as designed.

      I found an odor eliminator spray that neutralizes unwanted smells pretty well. Using it with the car's AC running helps to distribute it evenly around the cabin.

      He does, actually. In another unrelated video he mentions the president called him in the middle of the night to relay some information on a cause (religious based) that he's invested in. Glenn expressed concern that another leftist administration could wield too much power with some procedure the Pentagon was using, classifying certain religions a certain way. Being that he is LDS (Latter Day Saints), he gets hate all the time from ALL over the political spectrum, so he's invested in this. Trump called him back at 5AM to tell him he had made some changes to that classification.   So, yes, they are and have been in contact regularly since the start of the administration. Glenn, of course, always asks his permission before discussing anything on the air.   I already spent an hour or more just searching for these videos. I may have my numbers wrong - I'm not a numbers guy. It may have been a MILLION barrels, not 1.5. The point is, our President, by his actions, gives a crap about America, and US - this is completely OPPOSITE the actions of the prior administration who projected hatred for anyone who wasn't following the left's edicts in lock-step.   Remember, they called January 6th an "Insurrection", when there were ZERO weapons among the crowd, undercover FBI agents agitating the crowd, along with paid leftists acting as aggressors, egging the crowd on in an attempt to whip everyone into a frenzy. It's all been proven.  Pelosi refused Trumps request for more National Guard troops. This smells 100% like an inside job for those with critical thinking skills. Only a handful of guys in the crowd got wrapped up in that, thankfully, but EVERYONE was searched out based on cell phone data, and charges were brought against many. And 6 or so people were locked up and left in solitary confinement for YEARS with ZERO due process!! If you give the slightest crap about our Nation, REGARDLESS of your political leanings, this should frighten you to your core. This is what men suffered, bled, fought, and died against 250 years ago!   This has gone FAR BEYOND left vs. right. This is a  threat to America, and our way of life. This is PRECISELY why Trump, a BILLIONAIRE who could have chosen to take Melania and sit on some tropical island that he could afford to buy himself and RELAX, instead chose to run for office, get hate from literally every corner of the media, get ATTEMPTS on his LIFE constantly, and begin to repair some of the severe damage that's been done to this Great Nation.   I don't know why I bother wasting my precious time here. Everyone has their minds made up. They won't realize we all were correct until it's too late ... after they elect another tyrant that hates America to office (Obama), or another puppet whose administration is secretly running the show behind the scenes (Biden).
