Multiple questions

1. I would like to run 285/55/20 toyo AT2 tires

2 . What is minimum leveling kit would I have to use for clearance

3 . How much drop in fuel mileage should I expect ?

You don’t need level for that. I ran 285/55’s without level and had no rub. I do now have a 2” which gives a lot of room

He is correct on not needing the level for that size. I have two friends here that have Sierras that do not have levels and are running those tires. I have a 2.5in level and 275/65r20 Duratracs. My gas mileage has dropped to around 17 city 20 highway but I will be honest I do not have a very heavy foot. I think that can be heavily changed depending on the driver. I also have the 5.3 so not exactly apples to apples with your 6.2. I hope that helps. Hotty Toddy!

On my 2016 RCSB, 5.3, 6 speen, swapped out the stock Goodyear SRA - 275/55/r20's with BFG-KO2's - LT285/55/r20 and had very minor rubbing on sway bar.

Did the Rancho 9000 / 2" Lift strut assembly and minor rubbing was gone...

Average - combined gas mileage was 19 overall and 23 on open road before KO2's..

Now average is 17-18 @ 45Psi...

Hope this helps..

I went with 285/55R20 BFG KO2s and a 2" level kit.  No rubbing and no noticeable change in fuel mileage.  Keep in mind the KO2s are lighter weight than the Toyo AT2s which may affect mileage.

As said James! 2" front level lift is all that is needed! I did mine last summer (Toyo 285-55-20) and noticed about 1 mile per gallon at the start, but I just made my trip back from Arizona to Alberta and I have to say that I got about the same long drive hwy mileage as I use to with the stock Good Year SRA's.

That's Dark Slate Metallic.  Basically a dark gray, but kind of changes colors depending on light.  Sometimes it looks black, sometimes blue & sometimes green.

This has been asked in numerous threads with all kinds of varying answers, you can check those to further cloudy your thought process...

Expect at minimum a 1mpg hit or more depending on the height of the tire, aggressiveness, weight of the tire, height of the level and if you do anything with the valance, it also depends how much hwy vs city driving you do. Those that lift their truck and put bigger and heavier tires that say they have no impact on mpg are incorrect, they probably just couldn't distinguish what they were doing before, it is simple physics.

For reference even before I did anything I did a hwy mpg test loop at 70 mph with and with out the valance and it was just over 1mpg at highway speeds. So image lifting a truck, plus taller and more aggressive/heavier tires, it will go down. If people told you to expect a 3-4 mpg hit would you not do it? Does it really matter if you lose 1 or 2 mpg?

Either way just check out all the other threads, they give the same info you will get here, well actually more...

If I thought i would lose 3-4 mpg then i would not do it .

My plan was to raise the front end 1 1/2 -2 inches just because it scraps the center of roads in the mud , and I need more aggressive tires than stock ,

If I just put same size tire but more aggressive it would still scrap in ruts .

3-4 mpg loss in your mileage would be a lot for the tire size and level kit you're looking at.

My GMC really didn't change much at all when I changed to 285/55R20 BFG KO2s & the 2" level kit.  Here's some info from last Oct. before I did my level kit and again in Jan. after I did the level kit.  Both months were heavier than normal mileage for me due to a couple road trips both months.  I usually drive less than 800 miles per month.  Onstar reports the very sim. numbers for both before and after months.  For the record, Nov ave. was 18mpg, Dec was 17 mpg, and I'm at 18 mpg for Feb.

I have a 2018 Silverado Crew Cab Z71 that I purchased new in October 2018.  I installed new 18 x 9 Fuel Vapor wheels with 275/65/R18 Hancook DynaPro AT/2 tires in November 2019.  Original equipment size was 265/65/R18.  I installed a 2.5" MotoFab leveling kit at the beginning of March 2020.  I had no noticeable fuel mileage change after the tire installation, but immediately following the leveling kit installation my mileage started dropping quickly and started averaging between 2 to 4 miles less per gallon.  MPG used to range between 19 to 21 with an all time best of 27.2.  Now its hard to get over 17.  The last tank of gas was 14.5.  I know tire size and inflation affect mileage, but that isn't part of this issue as stated above the timelines don't match.  I know winter gas and temperatures affect mileage, but the change point was following the leveling.  I have towed a boat from Ky to Alabama and back to Ky with 3 passengers and averaged 16.7mpg.  Tires aren't the issue.

My question is why did my DIC fuel mileage drop as soon as I leveled the truck?  I will calculate it manually, but previously it was almost spot on when checking it manually.

I've got a '17 CC Z71 6.2 8speed with 305/55r20  Nitto RidgeGrapplers with a BDS level puck and just rub a little on the rear of the fender liner at full lock. If i ziptied it back it wouldn't rub.

I get about 16-17 avg calculated by the truck. 15 if i'm running 85 down the highway.
