Just picked up a new one. $50 cad.

Something else i noticed is you can you can hear what I think is spark noise randomly.  I heard it on both banks I think.  But can’t pin point what cylinder exactly.

It had new new wires and plugs few months ago to try to fix this.

But it I don’t want to go get coils if it’s not them.   And I’d prob get used ones that are confined to work tho

how old are the original coils

That I’m not sure.  Bought truck few months ago , I know I’m still not getting right fuel mileage.

After er I changed the intake gasket it does seem to be more throttle response.

But it you can still feel a little rough idle.  And the dome lights slightly dim with it too.

Your thinking ing I should test to see if coils , are weak ?    No way really without a timing light ?

Edit: actually you can hear what sounds like a spark noise sometimes , I put new wires and plugs in it recently.

I keep reading about crank re learns?  Is this something that needs to be done time to time. / would it hurt to get one done / is it capabale with the torque pro app?

there ngk wires I had bought new for the truck.  I think I’m going to try get set ngk or ac delco plats plugs for it.   Sense I had thrown the new cheap ac plugs in I noticed it hesitation on dead stop.  We also tried to adjust the gap on the plugs.

What has got me wondering after thinking.  When I got the truck there was a wire in the box in the protective covering.   Wondering if there’s a ground or something that got ripped out.   I tried different fuel pumps same results.   The fuel pump whine goes with the dim of the dome lights and such too at times.

Went out and messed with the truck again today.  Looked at cylinders 3 and 4 as torque scan was showing them misfire count most around 400.  I found two plugs had the top part cracked where the wire goes on.  Imagine that was some of it.   They were the cheapest ac delco plugs I could buy.   Possibly explain why I hear a spark noise now and then.

Mean any time I thrown the older ac plat plugs I took out of it in the place.  Misfire count is now down to 0 on them cylinders.

Have feeling ing I’ll be checking the other plugs, but for today I only checked four of them. And yet I think it runs a little better.

Question though, if I had a misfire count of like 8 on cylinder 8.  Is this ok or is it always supposed to be 0.

Thanks everyone one for their time btw.

    • For 2 years doing repairs or maintenance has not easy with my physical issues. Something simple isn't simple any more.      Sept. 6 2024 left shoulder 2 rotator cuff tears, bicep torn from bone. Still having issues, pain and dexterity problems left hand. Go to have EMG test on the 27th, second test. I'm left handed.   Oct. 3rd 2025 right hand carpal tunnel surgery and ulnar nerve,  end of 3 fingers still lack good feeling. Makes it difficult to do things.   March 3rd 2026, Cervical fusion, 4 vertebrae. Still have pain in neck and upper back.    I put upgraded shocks on our side by side, not hard but it took me over 2 hours. Oil changes are frustrating because nothing works like it used to.

    • I can relate. 3 years ago I did that on my Avalanche. I was sore for a week. The only maintenance I do myself now is drop and fill on the transmission on my Honda’s. It’s just too easy. My yard work with my walks in the morning will be enough now I passed 70. The contributing factor is the heat in Texas. You just have to pace yourself.
    • I am sorry if this was misleading. That was a document attached to our most recent work order number (Doc# 7105804) that summarized all the current updates. These programs were ‘redone’ in the past but these versions dated 4/1/2016 were the ones that actually made all of the problems disappear. These programs were relayed to the dealer from the technical services group at GM. Here is the exact wording on the last work order:   “Front view camera reprogramming with SPS. A new version of FCM software was released to the service dept. In addition to providing general robustness and stability enhancements, this update includes all enhancements from previous software version releases. SPS camera and calibrate camera. OLH to perform extended camera relearn procedure after camera calibration. Would not take with first GDS learn. Front camera SPS – BDYZ333157450 GDS2 – camera road calibration performed 2810835 Front view camera reprogramming with SPS LT 0.6 OLH – extended camera relearn procedure OLH LT 1.5”   I got the truck back on 4/8 – since that time it has been great no problems whatsoever. The lane keep assist, active cruise control and AEB all work very well around town and at highway speeds up to 80mph. During this time I had been away for a week and purposely let the battery sit without a batter tender. Even with the battery a bit lower there were no problems exhibited. I really think this one has it fixed after dealing with these issues over a couple of years. These new programs and relearn process when completed seem to make all the parts (and newer replacement parts) ‘talk’ to each other without any glitches. Hope this helps
