Swapping wheels and Tires back and forth (Warranty)

Is anyone swapping out wheels and tires to stock when they go for warranty work?  I have a new truck and want to put bigger tires on but don't want to deal with all of the bs from the dealer for the next 3 years.  My plan was to have stock rims and tires for when I head to the dealer for any warranty issues and put bigger tires on for normal use?  Going from 265/65/18 stock to 275/70/18

Talked with the local dealer and yes i understand they would have to prove it in writing.  Just wondering if it is even worth the time and money?  Thoughts?

A major pain, but I see where you're coming from. Are you planning a level?  If you avoid the dealership for things like oil changes, I'm not sure how often you'll even go in.

I'm in the same boat but am going to swap my 265/65r18 all seasons for 275/65r18 Duratracs.  I don't think it's enough change to get any grief.

Would a dealer bat an eye at something like a level and larger wheels/tires (within reason)?  Ive never thought of this actually, since I see so many trucks that have levels and larger wheels.

My truck has a 2" RC level but they have a coverage for it, if the dealer can prove it was that RC covers the cost.  So I am good with that, however with the powertrain one of the first requirements is to post the tire size in the warranty claim.  And the dealer said more then likey with GM being asses they will so no.

Powertrain is 5 years and I have heard people on here get denied for the tire size issues.

I don't think my dealer will bat a eye

Yes I understand all of us want to do it, I just don't want to go through all of the bs fighting with the dealer.

I've owned numerous GM vehicles because I generally like them and have had great service. If/When I grab some bigger wheels, and if I get my warranty voided for going to 275/285s, then my next vehicle will be something other than GM. They want to make money and I want to have good service, working together, I'd likely buy another. Being done over on something like tire size? Wouldn't happen again.

Probably best to talk to a service manager. The tire I'm going to, 275/65r18 has the same diameter as the optional 20/22s. 18s just get tiny tires.

If you have transmissions issues and you've got 35-37" LTs that weigh more than twice as much as the stock tires yeah that could be the cause. But if you're running some reasonable 33 inch tires and a 2 inch level, I would hope they're not petty enough to void your warranty over that.

I'm keeping mind for just this reason. If something every happens with the drivetrain I am for sure going to put my stock set back on before I take it in.
