Stay strong and vigilant. They need to buy the truck back. Make you whole one way or another. Like I said, I will NOT settle for a smelly truck no matter what.

My wife says I am a super smeller. I sniffed till I was blue in the face and smell no mildew. But it has also been below freezing the last 4 months here

I have a pretty good nose. But the smell is obvious. I dropped off the truck an hour ago. When the advisor went into the truck for the milage, I asked him if he smelled it. "oh yeah" was his response.

Shamrock - That really stinks man, I'm sorry you went through all of that crap, that's not cool at all!   It's that crappy dealership, I would raise hell about them for sure!  Few people take pride in their work anymore!

Please let us know what happens.

I will say the GM customer care representative and my dealer sales rep have been great to work with. It's been GM assembly and probably one bad technician at dealer who was in a hurry. The way they pay these techs with flat rate it is no wonder they rush every job.

I took my frustrations and f bombs out on a 16 page word document which I will keep to myself, so that I could stay calm cool and courteous when interacting with real humans that don't deserve to be screamed at.

Picked up another loaner tonight. GM rep and dealership are talking. See where it leads.

Good things happen to good people so I am hoping that is the case here.

Is there a definitive time frame of truck builds that this is an issue? My Trail Boss is a 08/21/18 build at Ft. Wayne. No water issues that I’ve observed thus far.

The gm bulletin says anything before 10/1/18 could have the issue. It is unclear to me of the upper glass rail guide is cracked from the window manufacturer or if it's cracked during installation. Great to hear yours seems fine. For piece of mind go at it with the garden hose and double check from time to time. If you catch it early you might save damage to interior

Do as ShamrockShooter says, check it regularly. Mine was built Aug 2018 and I wash it frequently. I check it often but it started leaking last week. It was just a few drops and nothing like what Shamrock is going thru. Dealership added the sealant to the top of the window and so far it has been good.

After owning since 12/21/18 I just saw a couple of small drops on the inside of the rear slider, very minor but still a leak, just on the drivers side. Made an appointment for 04/22, lets see what happens.

Just for a point of reference, I go through the automatic car was at least 2 times a week, high pressure sprayers all over the place, never noticed any water until we had a light rain storm last week and it was parked outside all day.

If it is the cracked plastic like I have it could be getting worse with freeze thaw cycles if you are up north or you could have had some dirt/crud in the channel covering up the cracks.

I would get some towels and stuff them between each headrest and the rear corner of truck.

Make sure when you take it in you have the bulletin in hand (in this thread) and tell them you want them to use the CLEAR sealant gm specified, and that you want to personally inspect the window after they remove the spoiler to see where the cracks are if there are any before they apply the sealant. Also that you want a nice smooth bead of sealant if possible without getting it all over the window and truck like mine did.

They will have to pull headliner down so make sure you tell them to take care not to get greasy finger prints on the headliner.

I would also contact GM customer care and have a case number opened up for this issue. Document every conversation you have and take lots of pictures.

Good luck.

Are the leaks happening just on models with the slider? Or is the solid rear window leaking too?
Just the slider as far as I know

I'm very confident in my dealer as they will do whatever I ask of them with no questions asked, even when it's not needed. I buy 20-30 vehicles a year, so they basically take real good care of me.

It looks like in one of Shamrockshoorter's pics that the headliner is buckled where they had to pull it down. Did they damage the board it is glued to?

I'd have their ass in a sling over that smart driver report. I sent my 2 week old Cruze in for a strange harmonic rubbing on very light acceleration that they couldn't reproduce. I pulled the dashcam video and found that the tech who was working on my car was hitting about 5,000+ RPM in the parking lot based on sound. I walked back in with the video of it. Needless to say, they know who I am at the dealer now and I will be taking my business elsewhere once my Silverado is delivered.

    • And so you had gone through the process of registering and updating the tool and so on ?. All I can say is that on the front page as the tool fires up you go to advanced mode, then vehicle model comes up and you choose Silverado ( not the DRW or EV  since your a single rear wheel ) , then I think its choice 2 which is 07/2021 - 12/2026 ( 433mhz 13542523 ) as that is the series of tpms sensors and then go down to choice 5 which is tire type/pressure selection. Hit yes and it says to connect to OBD port and turn ignition on.    Having said this, I updated the software in my tool lately and these year range choices look different from the past due to them doing some updates it would appear and I have not connected up to the OBD port since last year so hopefully I am not in for a surprise with them screwing up the software and that it won't work on my truck anymore either.    So my question is, when you plugged into the OBD and started your truck it had that message on the Autel screen "vehicle not supported" ?. That does seem odd as tire shops would be pissed right off if hey can't use their tool on the model year after mine that in theory is supposed to be much the same truck ... unless GM did some change in the computer system to block certain things from access.
    • Understanding and using modern scan tools is its own body of knowledge. I had little hope that would work...programming access to the BCM is probably required and that is not easy for us consumers. Expensive scan tool, GM programming subscription, online authentication, etc.   It also may be a matter of finding the right dealer to program it for you. Flashing a modern BCM might be a little too advanced for most tire shops.
    • Update for anyone following:    Installed everything as shown in diagram. Opted for 8 AWG from Battery Positive to a 50A resettable inline breaker. 8 AWG is tied into to 2x 12 AWG wires feeding a 6 way fuse bus in parallel (manufacturer’s design of what I purchased).    4 of the 6 fuses available for circuits are tied to terminal 30 of each relay. I tied a jumper from one of my spare circuits off the bus to terminal 86 of each relay. The trigger, terminal 85, was pulled from my interior by way of T-Taps from the X61A-X5 pins 10, 11, 17 and 23. This was the hardest part of the job. Even with the X61A unbolted and the X5 removed - there was VERY little wiggle room.  I added back up lights that I want to come on with my cargo lamp - but when I would check continuity between S48A-X1 pin 18 to its respective landing point on the X61A-X5 it triggers the factory relay… Instead I opted for a add-a-fuse on the passenger interior fuse panel (fuse location 10 - cargo lamp) and ran it through the boot on the driver side to my load. Did this to avoid introducing any electrical gremlins.   Note: Please check for continuity between the S48A-X1 and the X61A-X5. In my case wire colours were not the same as other’s who have posted. To do a continuity check you need a Multimeter. Completely disassemble the S48A-X1 and remove the brown face plate off the X61A-X5 by way of a flat head screwdriver - this was the only way I could get any results.   The outputs, terminal 87 of the relays, were fed into a junction box and landed at Individual studs and were labelled Aux 1-4.    At this point, all you need to do is run wire to your loads and bring them to ground. I created a negative bus in the engine bay, all my negatives land here.    For anyone having issues with all of your new aux switch lights coming on with the press of one - I noticed this only to be an issue when the battery wasn’t hooked up to my relays? No idea why, but it was quickly corrected by having my system buttoned up and functional.
    • Well I ordered the Autel ts508, and it won't work on my truck I tried all the 2023 and everything it just says vehicle not supported lol   I'm able to send this unit back, so I'm going to do that, then I'll just stop into a some tire shops and if none of them are able to do it, I guess ill have to spend a bunch of money to get a good scanner..... Thanks GM lol
    • Don't need the air tube but that's how everyone sells them. Most places won't remove that one piece and sell it alone. No money to be made. Hoping someone swapped theirs out for a CAI and no longer wants it. Not asking anyone to give it away. Offering to buy it but I don't need the tube. It's held on by a hex head screw and nut. Been all over eBay.
