Wow.  That's hard to believe.  Is there any way to escalate that decision to a higher level?  I know once, a long time ago, there was something like a regional manager that was the next step if the dealer wasn't getting it right.  Probably don't exist any longer, but unless the cracks are just cosmetic, which I can't see how that could be, I can understand why they won't replace the assembly.  Unless, maybe they have none?

Yeah the dealer isn't happy about it either but they escalated it to no avail.

We'll see how it goes.

Dealer called and said it's fixed, no leak. Gm refused to replace the window even with all the cracks in the frame rail.

They water tested it in their body shop under a sprayer that they use to test for leaks for 2 hours with no evidence of a leak. I'll pick it up and test it at home later today. Even if it isn't leaking I will be keeping a towel there just in case.

GM virtually never approve a new window on the first attempt at repair. Those tiny cracks are exactly what the TSB calls to fill in with seam sealer. It sucks but you gotta play their game. Certainly possible that they did a shitty job and it’ll leak again. And then maybe if you’re lucky...

Side note, mine is finally approved for a new window. Only took 1.5 years and 2 prior visits. Should be done in a few days. I’m sure the third party glass guy will love fighting with all the sealant they spread over the frame.

Got it back today. They actually surprised me and did a really nice job. Haven’t given her the water test yet but hopefully it’ll be fine. New window is an “E4”.

Strange, I've never seen any issue with getting the glass replaced.

I just looked at a 19 this past Tuesday and declined to seal it because of all the cracks.  They got it replaced with no issues.

They can't expect you to live with the cracks in the interior that are easily visible to the naked eye.   Those don't get sealed at all.

I guess one has to define the threshold for “easily” visible. The thing that threw mine over the edge for replacement was the giant crack that carried all the way down the slider track.

There were a handful of other small cracks existing for nearly two years that you could see from inside if you got close and looked for ‘em. Those got the sealant fix initially.

It’s unfortunate but I can count on one hand the number of posters here who got a new window right out of the gate for the typical small cracks the TSB addresses.

Interesting.  There's nothing in the TSB about sealing the ones that appear on the inside, not that I've ever heard of anyway.
Personally, I wouldn't feel just filling cracks like that with sealer would be acceptable to anyone's truck that I worked on.

If it was an older "just do something to help me get by" type of job, then sure.

But on a new(er) truck still under warranty?   Nah, I tell 'em to put a glass in it and I've never heard of GM denying one.

The 19 I looked at this past week had probably 8 cracks like that one in your pic.   I didn't even bother with any sealer...soon as I saw all those cracks, I was done.

Got mine back from the dealer.  Very happy with the work that was done.  Did a thorough leak test, and bone dry on the inside.  I will keep a watch on it, but I’m hopeful.

2021 Silverado

leak is in the passenger side rear, same spot before the tsb was preformed.

location B.C (rain forest :()

built in september of this year, developed a leak three months after purchase. had the tsb done now a month later is drips in the rain but not if i were to physically hose off the roof.  i have a app booked for later this week too see if the dealership can fix it again.

if anyone knows of a contact for gm Canada, it would be great if you can share. i just want my truck to be leak free i really don't enjoy going back and forth with the dealership.

What is up with my account?   oye.  It appears my tapatalk account for this site is out of sync with my browser account.   Anywho....  Jeepincbum11 and 55 are me   :)

As for the GAP.  It was a huge difference between left and right.  You can see the frame behind the window near the drivers side top of the glass compared to the passenger side.   The arrows are sitting on the spoiler where the spoiler stops and the window is supposed to start.

I asked the dealer if they were happy with the work of the third party glass shop and the service guy is like "HUH".   Service guy didn't even check it out.   So i walked him out and said, what are we going to do about this?   He didn't know how to reply.  So back to the dealer it goes to get the window removed and or reset or replaced.

What sucks is this one doesn't leak (YET)  :)

The SAGA continues.  5th visit...   Took the truck in to fix the issue in the images above.  The glass company who made the mistakes above happen to be in the dealership when i drop it off and they check it out and he shakes his head.  Kinda comical.   So i leave it with them for a week while i am out of town. Get a call this am and  It's all completed and ready to go.  I'm like "Great,  need it this weekend for towing".   Hands me my keys.  Walks me out and i see the bed cover is still open.  So i hop up to check it out and the seam is even again.   I notice glue all over the place.  So i have the service guy hop up and he shakes his head.  Tries to clean it.  While he is cleaning it the spoiler rocks back and forth and is moving like its not tightened down.   So hes like ughhhh.  Asked me what i want to do.  I'm like i want this repaired the way it should be.  But i need a truck this weekend.  He said, take the truck.  bring it back and we will get it taken care of.  So, i open the door to get in and i cant see out the back window.  As he walks away, i called him back over and asked what was going here? Leave the truck with me he says and back home i go without the truck.  Next call is to talk to the service manager.  We will see where it goes from there.

UNREAL! Sorry to hear. That’s record-level incompetence. Now the windshield has to come out to replace that headliner and probably even more stuff will get effed up in that process.

Unbelievable.  Time to get to the next level or even one above that.  I would contact GM directly.  There must be some sort of regional manager over all of the dealerships.  I’d demand a truck to drive as they sort their crappy (negligent) work out.  They are obviously not taking this serious.

Correct,  got a phone call from the service mgr that stated the headliner needed to be replaced and it could take a week to get it shipped in.  He asked me what i wanted?

I stated i wanted the following

1) Fix the crooked rear window and spoiler (Correctly)

2) Fix the glue and scratches on the roof

3) Fix the headliner

4) Put the tuck back together like it was before i brought it in the first time.

5) Doll up the truck to clean up all the messes they have made.

Basically said keep the truck until you finish.

We shall see but i am not holding my breath.  My next post could be a couple weeks.
