Accident today :(

So this 82 year old lady hit me today. Her fault, ticket given... But wondering what cost and the extent of damage they will fix before total. I'm not worried about the bed, already had that replaced from another lady backing into the same spot, but more wondering about the damage to the cab. Any experience out there? 2017 Z71 5.3 Double Cab.839ebd713b70297fd7b89a0a1fa9ae2e.jpg00ab36f2c805130b270a3fa08bdc0d9f.jpgf6bd31dab63f599259636fe0e6ca1668.jpg

Mine from a few years ago. Originally, this still didn't even total the truck. It wasn't until they realized the transmission was burnt up from the fluid loss and the engine running trying to keep warm in the winter until help arrived.8c32fd04298e90f8bb6b69f424ad0f8f.jpgd94f50c668c14c3b53efe40bcfae4399.jpgfbea23c60f2bfcf56bbbdaf999f51c92.jpg23099c9f86948fbef279e283d29ee61a.jpg7c223269c5a92ea0a420032c0f64a865.jpg5d4eefbeb4f1bd715fa626856d37b2bb.jpga198d65f40dff4baef1382e7d8c3eeb3.jpgeba9f38ad46314736397ac9fa3317462.jpg06045acdd2fac56f622636c44da3d730.jpg4b1dc6fecfd69d8a56eca013ad817caf.jpg

You should be fine as long as the frame isn’t bent. This was mine from a few years ago and they fixed it like newfa50324b59fd295e36bc3a75d8052099.jpg

Like I said though if the frame is bent they will total it. This was from last November so now I’m in a 2018 1debf3821dc263dfedab2fbe7a289803.jpgecd7f20453cb38b30a29c5b70a458bbb.jpgbdcc368cba8c7b04034c6b97140d9e29.jpg

Not always true, it will depend on the insurance company. I was involved in an accident last year, and they completely replaced my frame with a brand new one which cost them a great deal of money to replace.

Hope they also ticketed her for driving with her handicap permit hanging from the rear view...

Sure wish states would make those permits a little bit bigger so there would be no chance of the driver accidentally seeing something around them...

Looks close to be called "totaled," but if not, make sure that you get your frame straightened.  My '15 was totaled because there was no way to repair the damage done to the front left suspension and frame.  Axle, A-Arm, strut, were all still in the wheel/tire, under my truck.  Left fender was accordion-ed into the driver's door jam.  Door hinges had to be opened beyond their range, to get me out.  I think even the left engine mount(s) were broken.

Sorry, but I think 82 is old enough for her to turn in her keys.
I agree, she was confused when telling the officer where she was coming from. Telling him she was making a right on red, really want comprehending.

I hope you're joking. Unless you're confusing some of the replies' pics with the OP's. OP's looks like maybe $5k in body work? Definitely not totaled on a $30k 2 yr old truck...

3-5k in body work at the most. Nothing a few tubs of Bondo and a little sheet metal work can't patch up. A good body guy should be able to blend that so only a good eye can tell it has been patched up.

I agree, I think some people are mixing up the OP's damage and some others'...I would say $2k-$3k tops (depending on your labor). I am in NC and labor isn't that expensive (yet). My wife swiped a drive-thru post in almost the same spot. It only caused about 1/3 of the damage of yours but mine was only $700 to fix. Was she parking or backing out of a parking space?

Man, you need to find better parking spaces...........

Shakey

This is why I always park at the farthest away parking spot not near ant other cars. If the lot is full I park somewhere else and hoof it.

I'm very adamant about this to the point of avoiding lots if I can. I'll walk a block before I park by other cars. Way too many inconsiderate assholes out there that couldn't care less about your nice truck and bang into it then drive away. Really pisses me off.

    • Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?
    • I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.
    • The lifter issue can be dealt with by shorter oil changes and quality oil IMO.
    • Got heavy rain, hail and light rain yesterday.
    • I'm putting in an A-pillar pod/gauges, and I'm asking if anybody can identify a (preferably) fuse for a switched power and illumination circuit on the driver's side interior fuse panel. Offhand, everything I checked with a test light was constant-hot, and I'd much rather uses a piggyback fuse. I can certainly find a wire, but I'd rather not half-tap.   Thanks in advance for any help.
