First Tow did not go good

2019 GMC Crew short box Max Tow two weeks old 561 miles. We towed the 8.000 lbs. travel trailer 30 miles to the lake and I couldn't ask for a better truck.Until on the way out of the campground I was waiting in the sewer dump line and the truck shut off and the auto shut down was already disabled by the switch. The DIC was throwing warnings faster than I could read them. Reduced Engine Power, Service vehicle soon, I called on star on the demo time period and the scanned it saying "Engine out of spec" "Transmission not performing to spec". And "Battery power low". The push button start was green but would not start the engine. And all the accessories was on Radio, clement control, windows and door locks would work. i had a friend pull me out of the sewage line and he took my trailer home with my unhappy wife and two dogs. While awaited the tow truck to the dealer I was trying to reset the push button start to at least shut it off to save the battery and I held it in for about 20 seconds and the green led on it went out. I the attempted to start it and it fired right up. Still showing a check Engine light in the Tach. window. It drove up on the roll back and off the roll back at the dealer.

I will be at the dealer service department 8 am tomorrow to try to get it straightened out.

That's interesting. You started towing very close to the break-in mileage of 500 miles. I know 561 miles is technically broken-in but i wonder if this has something to do with it.

You'll think it's odd, but how are the batteries on the trailer?  When my coach batteries are low, and I'm plugged in to the trailer, I get an engine surge...like a big cam at low idle.  No cel's yet.

Sucks man, keep us posted.

Me personally, I wouldn't tow, especially that much untill I at least have 1K or more on the truck. Transmission alone takes 5K to finish it's learning cycle from what I understand.

Either way, I'm not justifing the truck going crazy like that. Definitely something wrong.

This could be part of the problem. The 7-pin connector will charge and power the camper even if the truck is turned off,.

Hope that's all it is.

Fairly common. While there is no real fix yet it it thought to be a random malfunction of the theft deterrent system. Good thing is after the truck sits for a while it will usually restart.

IDK, I do know that if mine is hooked up to the rv and I try to remote start if flags communication codes. Both times it had been sitting all day hooked up while I was at work. Definintely test the camper battery.

Sorry about your experience.  Owning a travel trailer makes for many special memories!   I also suspect that your trailer is the culprit.  It was busy sucking power from your truck while waiting in the lineup.  I avoid campsites without full hookups for now but am considering a macerator setup to allow me to empty my tanks at home, just in case.  I realize that travelling with full tanks is a waste but we often glamp pretty close to home!

Sounds like a lousy deal.  I don't know anything about camper batteries, but it does sound like an electrical problem to me.  Low battery, or bad connection, or something.
