I would say so, especially on a 2020. That’s impressive. Anything over 20% off is good, even more so on a 2020.

Maybe investigate that listing a bit more. It's a 2.7L 4 banger with no power seats, no leather, with a $42K MSRP, not a $50K MSRP like the OP's potential truck.

Maybe I'm missing something or maybe the way I buy cars, but the only difference between "selling price" and "out the door should be zero......so an extra $4100 in real money for this even in a high tax State like CA or NY or any  State that charges tax on full sale price sounds pretty steep and fogs the "real selling price".

I could care less about any of the numbers listed as line items on the bill of sale or percentage discount, or allotment for trade.....all fog the issue....... they can monkey with them any way they like, the only number I'm interested is the one on the bottom line because that is all they will get and they can work any or all the other numbers accordingly. Here's how I worked out mine bottom line MSRP $55600, sale price $42000 plus $30000 for my trade (Actual Kelly Blue Book excellent $28700) and all you get is my check for $12000 for everything including $900 or so in State tax on differential including rebate discounts, tag transfer, prep fees, dealers lifetime on the drivetrain and ordering 4 GM mud guards for free install......That's what's considered out-the-door or taillights-down-the road!

And to answer the OPs question......No one ever gets a good deal; dealer's are in business to make money, not give bargains or make friends. The real question is not if you got a good deal but how badly did you get screwed.

I gave the selling price and the OTD price because tax and tag/title is different for everyone, so just giving you the out the door price is useless.

I never asked if I was getting the truck for free. The dealer is obviously making money, if not, they wouldn't be open.

Similarly sales price is useless if the dealer tacks on excess charges for "stuff" not considered part of the sales price.

And $4100 for tax, tag/title on a $37500 sale; that's another 11% ? Highest U.S. sales tax rates w/o a trade in NYC are 8.875% and San Francisco at 8.5% which still leaves about a grand which is a lot for title and tags even in those high tax areas. No idea of the jurisdiction where you pay taxes, just glad I don't pay taxes or register a vehicle there there.

You wanted to know what we'all thought , here's my thought.... a good deal on the truck and a crap deal on the tax, tag/title. Might warrant a further look at the line items.

It's entirely possible the OP bought some add-ons before the OTD was calculated. Most people do. E.g. extended warranty, accessories, tint, etc. These are the elements that drove my OTD price up.

That $4100  more that OP is paying is not an unrealistic number. In my part of Kansas you would pay 8 - 10% sales tax plus title and registration on a $50000 truck will run approx. $1200 more for a full year. I pay 7% sales tax as I don't live in a city that has other taxes besides state tax. In Kansas you also have to pay sales tax on any rebates or cash back that you receive.

long beach, ca  is 10.25%...…..selling price is b4 TTL. OTD is just that

on a 2020 that's a good deal, I bought 19 rst in aug @ 48k sticker and sell was high 35k, OTD was almost 41k, gotta love long beach sales tax...no trade

Across the border we get hit with 15%. I cry when I see what you guys pay for a new truck which is why I can only afford used.

That's a good price, but I don't know what state you are in, and the weather + your lifestyle.  Depending on the answer, you should stop and pause a while, ask yourself - what about 4x4 (4WD).  Can you live without 4WD?  Does it snow there?  Will you ever desire to go off road?   Some places (Virginia,  North Carolina, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, ) you just aren't going to get by without 4WD.  People there don't want the truck if it doesn't have it.   Re-sale will be rough.   Other states, like Texas, South Carolina, California, Florida,  Alabama, Mississippi, 2WD drive trucks are much more popular.  Those states, it almost never snows and there just aren't as many "off road" places to go.  So a 2WD truck is just fine.

Earlier this year, I was able to get a 2019 Trail Boss, 4WD, Custom Trim, Double Cab, 5.3 V8, Convenience Package, Sirius XM, Off Road Package, Power Tailgate, Remote Start, etc..for $37,500 "OTD."  So the price of the truck was $36,000 including everything (freight, TTL, Dealer Fees) and the sales tax was $1500.

I agree with your comments on 4x4 but, given that the Custom is a much lower end truck than the RST (in terms of interior features), I don't really think you can compare OP's deal to yours.
