I have this connector hanging next to the BCM. Is this where the upfitter switches would plug into? I know you had to install the whole harness, but maybe mine is already installed?? 
 

The dealer did install a big bag of parts in the back seat that included studs and fuses. It was UI bulletin #147 that covers VYU plow package and 9L7 upfitter switch power provision. 
 

Where are the RPO codes listed? They are not in the glovebox like I am used to.

They do light up too, the 4 blunt cuts out the bottom are for your connection. #5 is the roof beacon wire that is coiled near the 3rd brake light. (snowplow prep pkg)

Yes, that appears to be the connection location, mine did have that there installed. If you push in on the tab on the left side, that cap will come off and then you plug in the harness with the new fuse block that hangs under the column. The bulletin # 147 kit is what I am missing to connect to the  right side battery. This is all on top of the battery, below the cover.

Not sure on the codes, should say in the manual.

I misspoke earlier, I have the studs and fuses (147)  that the dealer did not install, but told me I need to. They did install #124 which was a whole wad of wires. Is that the one that you had to install?

No, #124 is snowplow prep related. It has something to do with large electrical loads and the infotainment/radio performance. Dealer is supposed to install that if requested. #153 is Upfitter switches.

My buddy has one of these trucks he just picked up on Tuesday.  He has snow plow prep but doesn't have upfitter switches.  Anyone know how you're supposed to switch the strobe in that case?

I am going to do more investigating when I get home next week and back to the truck. I might just mount a single switch where the upfitter switches would mount. I am running a Game Changer strobe setup that plugs into the BCM right there anyway, so I just need to get a power wire to that area for the switch. Right now I just wired a cigarette lighter end on it to test them out. The video I have of them is to large to upload, I will have to try to get a shorter one later. It uses all of the trucks lights as strobes instead of having to mount a strobe light on the truck.

I got my RPO codes from my dealership (parts man ) give them your Vin # an get a print out .

I have an upfitter kit that came with new 2020 Silverado 2500HD truck. I would be willing to part with it as I don't ever plan on putting a plow on it.

I think I would throw the switches and the keys over to the sales manager desk, keep you $70,000 truck you can't install ordered parts on. Truly unbelievable.

I guess is it the plow harness, or the up fitter switches?

So im in the process of ordering my truck and trying to get all the info on everything that im gonna need to get it built when I receive it 

few questions 

1 what is the amp rating on each switch.  it says there are 3 30 amp and 2 20 amp  I don't think I will exceed any of those but want to know before I layout what they will activate.

2 is the roof beacon wire already predetermined in the switch layout.   I plan to run a 'roofbeacon' but also some other cornering lights.

3 some of the bulletins posted here are for the 1500 are they the same for the 2500

 

any help would be great

pictures/videos would be better to help everyone thru this

Looking at the wiring schematic it looks like switch 5 is dedicated to the roof beacon.  The others are user configurable.  Attached are the installation instructions.

So if I'm reading that right the switches go

30 20 20 30 30

The fifth switch is the roof beacon
but can i tap into that wire under the dash to re route power out of the firewall

 did you have to cut the hole? Or was the switch mounted and you had to run the wires?

      I will admit I haven't experimented much with pressure drops beyond the numbers I put in and part of that is that the numbers I used are fairly low and then found out it would trigger regardless at that 35 psi. Having said that I had tried before had changed the placard pressures and being that I have a 1 ton set to 80 on the placard for the rear I believe it triggered close to 60, the front I don't recall now for sure but thought maybe it could get close to 45 from that factory 60 placard pressure. So I never did figure out if it was a number of psi from placard pressure to the alarm or a percentage of the total placard number as some figured it was like a 25% drop from placard pressure would trigger it. So as to try and answer your question, I believe I set the placard pressure on the front to 47 or so and while I run the front tires at 40, they have dipped below that some if its colder and I haven't put "winter air" in yet and never once have had the front alarm go off. I would say that the answer your looking for is no, that if you set your placard pressure to 45, you have a certain amount of room to drop below that pressure before the alarm will go off.    The pressures you decide to run in your truck, that ends up being what makes sense to you based on what your carrying in your truck or if towing, then have to bump them back up to something that will carry the load in the rear and the fronts typically left at the same pressure. It all comes down to that chart I put the link to and using an accurate roadside scale to be your guide, both unloaded and then loaded to know your minimum safe pressures.    I just wish GM would allow a person to change the readings for the tire pressures to the English system of pounds as I have to look at that goofy metric reading that will never ever jive in my head and will go over and change it just to figure out what they are if need be and then change it back.

      That part I understand, that the dealer can do it. But I'm not understanding why updates that were available to the truck since it left the factory, or the dealership originally, would not still be available to it without dealer intervention.   I'm thinking along the lines of recalls. They stay available until they are completed. Why not updates as well, especially since some of those can be safety related also?

      That's good to know, but I don't think I'll even be running them under 45 in the rear  unless it's on the sand or something but will only be for a short distance anyways!    I didn't read all the instructions in the booklet yet, but do you know let's say I set the rear psi on the placard to 45, will the warning light come on soon as it drops under 45 or is there a percentage it has to drop from the set value before the warning light is triggered?

      That's bad.  Like, its probably destroying the stub axle the CV slides into.   Do you have a proper lift installed with differential lowering brackets?  Did you install AT4/Trail Boss factory CV axles?
