2 New recalls

I didnt have any issues with mine after having the recall done. I also never used the app to start the truck either. I'm afraid to even try using the app in case it causes me to lose my brakes ( I have been using the key fob alot though). I wonder if gm will let everyone know that there is a software update available to fix the issues that some are having after the recall or if it only applies to those that have had the lost brakes issue.

Update: Still no return of the braking issue since the latest fix (and I've been intentionally using the app a ton to test it). But, oddly, tonight the camera functionality suddenly returned: intellibeam, lane keep and collision monitoring all returned and worked appropriately. Not just once but across multiple ignition cycles. The really odd thing is I still have to clear the error message in the DIC about reduced collision assist functionality, even though the camera appears to be working again. I can only guess the latest TSB cleared up the error not only with the brakes but also with the camera?

Were you having problems with the camera after the recent recalls ie 192268090 and 192275630? If so, did the dealership place the camera in relearn to get you safety features working again? So you did the PIT5728B update and everything seems to be working with the remote app and the camera is working except you must reset an error message of "Reduced Collision Assist", correct? I wonder if this is a new problem arising or the front camera just needs to calibrate more until full functionality is restored.

Yeah, the dealer had the truck for 2 days and repeatedly put it in relearn and tried to fix it. They ultimately ordered me a new camera (on backorder) and have been waiting for the new one ever since Dec. 30th. That's when the braking issues popped up as well. with the PIT5728B all of a sudden the camera has started working again - with the error message you mention - but all functionality back. No idea if the timing of the newest update is just a correlation or not.

Thank you for keeping us updated. Fingers crossed that this is the final fix.

I’m going to wait a couple more days before getting the fix done. Last fix they had for me lasted nine days starting with the app almost every start up.

Well, I wish I would of read all of this before last week.  I took my truck in for it's first free oil change (which was hard enough for me to let them do).  I knew it had the seat belt pretensioner carpet fire recall and the one for the indicator light for ESC.  They informed me when I was there, there was another one for the front mounted camera, which I had them do.  On my way home, I noticed that the lane departure warning system wasn't working, nor could I shut if off by the switch.  I called them and brought it back. The mechanic said he had done 3 of these recalls, and had issues with all 3 of them.  He ended up doing a 2 hour update on the video controller.  Driving it home, it all seems to work fine.  So I'm guessing, from reading all of this, I should expect the brake failure?  (I never start it from my app, as my 1 month onstar trial has ended - but I do remote start with the fob).  I have only started it twice since I got it back.  I need to haul a horse next weekend.  I hadn't planned on driving it between now and then, but maybe I should.  I haven't looked at the brake bad wear either.  I don't recall seeing that on any of the recalls, nor the alternator cable.  Crazy.  My truck only has 1900 miles on it.

Take it back and get the TSB5728B done which takes care of the remote start via Onstar [causing brake failure]. There is a TSB to correct the readout calibration of the brake pads. If your wear seems high like 70% at 1900 miles, get it done. You should be at around 90 to 95 % wear with about 2000 miles with heavy braking. The Alternator cable is a recall that should be performed also if not done.

Thank you, Richard.  I haven't looked at the readout on my brake pads since it was new.  I'll have to check that.  I don't use the remote start via OnStar, as I don't have the service.  I do use the keyfob remote start.  I appreciate the info.  There seems to be some people that have the issue with the keyfob start as well, am I correct?

You are correct with the FOB, fewer have the brake loss problem than those that use the Remote App. There might be some type of an electrical characteristic that is set off with the starting of the vehicle that causes a malfunction in the Brake system. TSB 5728B was created to counter the Remote App starting phenomenon. Maybe it takes care of those little electrons running amuck, who knows.

I am new to the forum, i just ordered a 2020 Sierra Denali, i am starting to wonder if i should wait due to all these issues. I am on call a lot for a medical center and i need a truck to just run without problems. I have a 2018 Camaro ZL1 and have had no issues at all, great car. That had an influence on purchasing another GM product but i am starting to question my decision.

Just take note of some of the forum entries and inspect the vehicle well when it arrives. Ensure all the TSBs and Recalls are completed. Take the unit for a drive and keep overnight if possible. Wash it and look for any leaks etc. There are owners without problems and a few with problems.

Thank you, i didn't realize there are leak issues. I guess i have a lot of reading to do. I was able to keep a loaner 2020 Denali for 2 days to see if it was what i wanted to purchase, It was  quiet, solid feel, and responded well, i just fell in love with it. If there any other items i should know about please pass them on, i would greatly appreciate it.

Again Thank you.

You will find all the issues if you look in the troubleshooting section of a forum for any brand of vehicle. There are many driving around with no issues.

The only issue I have had with my truck is this brake issue. Other than that I absolutely love my Trail Boss and would buy it again.
