2 New recalls

Thanks for that, Rocz3cqg! My truck went back in for more diagnostic work, today. Putting things in "relearn mode" (done by the service tech, today) did not put things to rights. It appears that the camera and associated module in the center of the dashboard is bad. The part(s) are reportedly on back-order with no ETA provided. So, my GPS and safety sensors won't be working for a while to come. I don't know if the brake calibration updates started this or not - but the safety sensors were working until that service was performed.

So, whatever going on is not yet fixed. She's drivable with no issues about braking. I can do safety checks the old fashioned way for a while longer... as long as this DOES get fixed.

Yes it is, it has gotten noticeably better, almost back to normal.

Brake System Malfunction Warning

Recall Description:

General Motors has decided that certain 2019 model year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 126, “Electronic stability control systems for light vehicles” and FMVSS 135, “Light vehicle brake systems.” While receiving service at a GM dealership for an unrelated condition, these vehicles may have received the pre-launch version of the electronic brake control module (EBCM) software intended as the remedy in NHTSA Recall 19V889. This pre-launch EBCM software contains an error. If (i) the vehicle is started remotely using the Onstar mobile app or (ii) the driver enters the vehicle and waits five or more minutes before starting the vehicle using the ignition, this software error can, in rare cases, disable the vehicle’s electronic brake assist and illuminate the ESC, ABS and BRAKE telltales.

Safety Risk Description:

NHTSA Recall 19V889 involved a software error that could cause the vehicle’s ESC and ABS telltale lamps to fail to illuminate in certain circumstances. If a driver were unaware that ESC and ABS were not functioning, there may be increased risk of a crash.

Repair Description:

Dealers will reflash the EBCM.

Since I’ve never had the original recall for this done, I’m assuming that’s why this recall is not showing up for my truck? Next question, if I take it in now for the service, will I get the correct software update?

My opinion is I wouldn't let them touch it anytime soon, I just had the first recall done which to my understanding was supposed to address among other things the display of incorrect brake life. Mine says i have used 24 % on front pads with 1876 mile on the truck still . going back to talk to the dealer on Monday.

I have the new recall notice and the low % remaining on my brake pads, at 5500 miles.
so, I’ve always been a Honda person, usually bought new. I’ve never had so many recalls total ever on all vehicles. This is number 5 since I bought her in September. Is this normal for Chevy?

I have a good friend who’s a Honda service manager. He told me they have plenty of recalls right. Seems like all manufacturers are having their issues

Well I was doing well.... then I took it in for its first service and told them I am getting some hard shift 1 to 2. Pick it up and all seems well. Next day get ready to go to the store and all there errors showing up, including some ECM codes.

Not really, the previous gen had abit but the recalls and issues for this generation is something

So I literally just went through my first tank of gas with my 19 elevation.. 900kms on it. Went to go drive and engine light was on - called on star they said it was code P25A2 and U0101/U0100/U0146.

I noticed some brake pad wear already gone and I’m not even at 1000kms. Same with oil at 73%.

on-star set up an appointment with local dealer. What should I mention to them or make sure they do so I don’t incur any of these brake failures while driving. Kind of worried to take it into work tomorrow before going to dealer... should I let my brand new 60k truck sit?

(new to GM from a 2016 ram, this is not a great start)
