Someone forgot to assign someone to lube these things as they come off of the assembly line.  Very sucky.   I can understand leaving it slightly not completely lubed to prevent pressure bursting or whatever depending on altitude or things that might happen when loading/unloading from carriers.. but at the same time, I don't recall any of the dealers I worked at or went to checking chassis grease as part of the pre-delivery stuff.

Fwiw, I did notice pale blue marker dots on some of the joints.  The pic I took of the lower ball looked like it had a spot of grease.  I wiped grease away with shop towels while I was greasing them.  I had to go back after looking at the pic I took and tried wiping it again, looked like I missed some grease, but it was a pinkish red marker dot.

So at the very least these were marked off for something.

I will say all of mine seemed to be pretty dry/the boots felt completely empty.

Does anyone have a photo of the lower ball joint fitting.   I'm 99% sure mine isn't serviceable. 2020 sierra 3500

I crawled under my 2020 Sierra 2500 this afternoon after coming back from my complimentary oil change and lube. I was only able to find 7 grease fittings.  I'm with you.   I dont see any on the lower ball joints.   I'm guessing my total  is 7?   BTW the dealer did get the zerks, I  could see fresh grease.

What type of grease are you guys using? I had ICON UCA's on my last truck and they recommended some type of molly ultra grease.

Eh.. it's not so much a big deal of brand or type unless you live in very cold climates.

Mine is in the dealer shop today for another matter. I asked them to check the zerks as I had "heard" many have left the factory dry. They are going to check them for me.

I believe the manual said NLGI 2 grade grease. I found some at Menards.

13,000 mi and finally got around to greasing the zerks

most of them did not bleed out and started to bulge so I stopped.  I will go at it again next oil change.  Seemed like they were completely empty but I did see some black grease ooze out of a few of the seals so there must have been something.

Chassis Lubricant (GM Part No. 12377985, in Canada 88901242) or
lubricant meeting requirements of NLGI #2, Category LB or GC-LB.

We have had the best results using Schaeffer's #274 3% Moly grease in all applications including wheel bearings. There's cheaper #2 grease out there but grease and oil are always cheap in the grand scheme of things!

The Blue/pink dots indicate a fastener/bolt/nut has been properly "torqued" to spec.

Put my truck on my buddies lift today and hit 8 of the 9 zerks. One requires a 90 degree fitting to get to, so I'll get it next week. There was plenty of room for grease...Glad I saw this post today.
