I thought it was a universally known fact, everywhere except on these boards that CC's are poser-mobiles for the "soccer-mom" crowd who want to drive trucks. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that they are disproportionate with a big cab and a short bed and look goofy. But then again, I think there was a guy in this thread talking about how his favorite truck of all time was the Avalanche. So I guess you have to consider the source. 

 

Again, for those in the back, there is a reason that the "cheaper" truck has a higher resale value after a few years. You guys come on here to talk trucks and then get butthurt when people don't join the circle jerk. LMAO

Identical trucks except for the cab size.  I'll save you the work of clicking on the links.  The CC has a higher trade in and resale value.  About 11% higher.

$17,995 - $27,890 - 48 trucks available

 

2013 EC LTZ 4wd <100k miles within 500 miles of my zip code

$17,198 - $25,283 - 8 trucks available

 

The EC is 5% - 10% cheaper.  NADA said 11%.    You have 6x as many trucks to choose from in the CC.  Guess which truck sold more and which holds its value better.

Well, I know for certain the real world trade-in value of a 2016 double cab...because I traded that sumbitch in for a crew cab!

 

I obviously didn’t get as much as if it were a CC. But I didn’t pay as much either...actually made out really well on the deal.
 

Fact remains that GM builds what they think people will buy, and dealers order what they think they can sell. CCs are like 3 to 1 over double cabs in inventory count around here, so that tells you what the majority wants. Everything else is just opinion.

I just did the exact same thing.  I was told I would have gotten another $1,500 for it if it were a CC.  No worries.  I bought it for the engine (6.2) not the cab size.  In fact, when I bought the '18 DC, the dealer had a CC with the 6.2 in white.  I chose the DC because of the color (Cajun red tintcoat). 
Out of all the trucks I've had recently owned (see my signature), I have been very happy with all except for the 2012.   It was just OK for a number of reasons.  I am really happy with my latest.  2020 CC Standard Bed - Trail Boss LT.  Maybe I'll stick with this one for a few years?

I bought mine at end of april…..most were saying to wait til june/july deals would get better.....I just didn't see that happening with inventory low and no trucks being built....

 

but yeah after not having a payment for last 10 years its not a lot of fun cutting that check every month.....but my truck was beat, I will drive this new one into the ground most likely

One of these days you will hopefully have a little confidence in your purchase instead of trying to insult other people's purchases/choices in an effort to internally justify yours.  You bought a publicly panned, spatially inept, proportionally hideous, DC truck and its OK, no reason get defensive about it.  It's your choice how you spend your money and you don't need to try and justify it with others through the use of pseudo facts.  It's not a good look, though you seem to wear it pretty well.  Be confident in your poor decision and keep your head high, which shouldn't be an issue since you cant lean that chair back too far in the DC anyways with anything larger than a shoe box behind you.

 

 

Sidenote*

I own a CC and DC truck.  When it comes to hauling tools, equipment, and people around, the DC is near useless in comparison.  Don't even get me started on family road trips with 2 teenagers.  The first time you need the extra room of a CC but are stuck with a DC, you realize real quick how valuable the extra room is, why demand is much higher for it throughout the ENTIRE life of a vehicle, and why people GLADLY pay more for it, again and again and again.

I guess I was the guy that said my favorite truck was an Avalanche. It based on a suburban. You could get it in a half or 3/4 ton. It’s convertible and lockable. I’ll never be without one. It does everything a truck does and then some. What’s not to love?

Agreed, I wish they still made them. The mid-gate and lockable hard top was fantastic.

I just think it probably cost more to churn them out compared to a CC, and they're pretty similar.

I think the persistent complaints of leaking also had a lot to do with it.  They never seemed to be able to completely seal those things up, but the lower back window and removable panels were a great feature for the "family-dad" who needed 4 real seats but also the ability to be the "Fix-it dad" on the weekends when hauling 4x8 sheets of ply were necessary.

Yea I always wanted one but by the time I was gainfully employed enough to afford a pickup they were out of production and a little more wear and tear than I was looking for.

The first one I bought was a leftover. It was cheaper than a reg p/u. The one I have now is 19 years old and is like new. Yes it had a leak. Probably because it was never driven in the rain by the original owner. After a few car washes and some seal cleaning, no more leaks. Just went through a couple of bad rains, dry as a bone. GM is great for getting rid of popular vehicles. The Avalanche is one of them.
