Hey all,

I’m in the market for a new truck, not in a rush to buy so I’ve emailed several local dealerships on particular trucks I’m interested in.

So far all the local dealerships I’ve reached out to have had an attitude of it’s a sellers market, so they’re not willing to negotiate at all, nothing below MSRP and I’m not cool with that.

Are the current pandemic times just not a good time to buy unless you want to pay MSRP?

Thoughts? Have you recently purchased either an AT4 with the 6.2L and gotten it below MSRP? What about the LT Trail Boss with the 6.2L below MSRP?

Thanks all.....

Even Ford won’t go below MSRP lol.....

That doesn't sound right.  I did a custom ordered truck from my local dealer and got a great deal on it.  All GM dealers should have active rebates that you can take advantage of along with good trade in offers.

The used market is what's hot right now, not so much the new market.

That's nuts, maybe its just worse in CA. Others have said on here that inventory is very low right now. It doesn't help that you're limiting to the 6.2.

For reference, my town has a GMC dealer and a Chevy dealer, only 3 trucks with 6.2 on either lot right now, but all are listed for 6-8k below MSRP.

Shop around and let them know you aren't desperate, but willing to purchase if they want to sell.

You will have better luck going into the dealer or calling. Odds are, they think you’re just trying to get prices to have someone else beat it.

With that being said, my local dealer only did MSRP - Consumer Cash. Went and found a dealer a few hours away who did around $5000 off after freight plus consumer cash off MSRP.

Find a no-haggle dealership. I had a problem with one dealership not even matching prices or coming close with a no-haggle dealership's web-advertised prices in a neighboring city (I'm in Durham, NC, the first dealer was in Durham, the dealer I bought from was in Raleigh). Make sure you go back to the places that won't negotiate and rub it in their faces when you do purchase a truck at a fair price.

I'm in SoCal and ran into the same issue. Took the 6K GMC was offering and an addition $4,998 dealer incentive but that was it for negotiating. Very hard to find SLT Premium Plus with a standard bed. Everyone in California wants short beds so not many standard beds to go around.

Have you tried Rotolo Chevy ?

I bought my 6.2L RST Z71, All Star, Leather, Sunroof, Safety, Convinence I & II for $9100 off MSRP about 6 weeks ago. What I did is go to chevrolet.com and search the inventory and follow the link to the dealers site for the current rebates and dealer discount and I must have called 20 dealers but I found one I wanted at the price I wanted.  Flights were $79 if you planned it a week out.  So that's what I did.  Luckily the truck I found was only 550 miles away.

My 3 week old RST Z71 listed for 52K, out the door was 41k but that did include the GM first responder discount of around $750 I think.  Deals are out there. Good luck.

I only got about $2,500 under the customer cash incentives. I beat him up on the rate and warranty, which made up for it a bit in my mind. I’m sure I’ll be glad I have the 100k warranty down the road.

As others said, don’t be afraid to travel if you find what you want and don’t want to order it. I was ready to buy a plane ticket to Florida from Philly and spoke to the dealer who sold the truck that morning.

What I ended up with was a special order, took almost three months to get and no one in almost 100 miles had a 6.2 to even test drive. I live in a very aggressive truck market. My perfect truck though.

It is a sellers market at the moment, only due to low inventory. The plants shut down for a while, stopping production, and now the plants can’t keep up with the demand.

I do not think you will see much change until the true impact of the shut downs starts to hit; middle of next year or so would be my guess. You will eventually have companies that reopened, but are now destined to close, as they were not on strong footing prior to the shut downs, this will mainly be in retail, but will have a trickle down effect.

That and once the mortgage deferments come due, coupled with the ending of the moratorium on evictions ends, things will start to become clearer on the true impact on the economy.

If all of that becomes true, when manufacturers begin sending dealers their incentive goals based on the strong performance that is occurring right now, you will see dealerships hurting for sales. I hope that I’m wrong on the economy and this is not intended in one political direction or the other, but dealers do have the upper hand right now. There is also another thread on here where people post what they paid, this may help you get a better idea of what’s out there.

I purchased my 2020 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab short box 6.2l LTZ back in July when inventory was zero in my local area. The truck was ordered way back in February. I got $8500 off msrp and a bunch of small add ons. Which I believe was a fair deal under the circumstances. I absolutely love this vehicle it’s as quiet as a library cruising down the highway at 75. The engine is absolutely insane. And it will get 25mpg on the highway if you can somehow manage to keep a disciplined right foot.

Is that including any Chevy rebates or is that off MSRP then minus any rebates ?
