Very nice job.  I tried a lace on cover several years ago and screwed it up royally so went with the factory wheel.  Yours looks as good as factory.

Thank you. I could have trimmed and tucked the edges to make it look better, but was okay with this look. Very nice texture and comfortable cushion. Just took 3 hours...

Reviving an old thread but tried replacing the steering wheel in my custom with a high country steering wheel because also got high country cluster and I ended up rounding out the torx bolt trying to get it out any one know how to get it out I talked to local mechanic said that bolt was too hard to drill I have an appointment with the dealership for them to try and get it out but I’m worried they won’t be able to get it and without changing the steering wheel the cluster is useless

If you have any bite left, everybody says to add heat as it uses a thread lock compound. Maybe see if an easy out wants to bite, if it does, heat up the screw and try turning.

Just a heads up for anyone doing this down the road. GM parts store changed the part# of the steering wheel to 84813359. This has the atmosphere trim cover already and comes with all the buttons (paddles, cluster menu) included for same price. Good thing I bought the trim cover listed as well because I hate the atmosphere color.

if anyone needs an extra atmosphere trim cover just lmk and can sell for cheap

I am in the process of ordering a leather steering wheel for my 2020 Custom Trail Boss, and am confused with the part numbers and colors.

The part number that Mac-427 provided is apparently no longer available, and they say it's now superseded by part number 84946349, but the color of the trim-plate appears to be bronze-like, which I don't want.  You said that you went with part number 84813359 which is still available on Rock Auto, but there is no picture, so I don't know if it has the silver or bronze trim piece.

I'm not sure what color an "atmosphere" trim piece is!  Is it silver or bronze?

My question is, does the black 84813359 steering wheel have the silver-like trim piece which matches the silver-like trim pieces on my dashboard?

I'm not sure what color an "atmosphere" trim piece is!  Is it silver or bronze?

Thanks!

Atmosphere is not the trim piece, it's the brownish color interior available. You want Jet Black.

Right now, I'm just trying to figure out what color trims comes on the 84813359 wheel.  Rock Auto doesn't have a picture for this wheel, but the description says:

Quote

High Country Trim Package (GFD), Cruise Control (K34), Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel (NP5), Steering Wheel Accessory Controls (UK3), Interior Trim Color (4AA); Exc. Steering Wheel w/ Automatic Heat (KI3), Forward Collision Alert (UEU); 1st Design; USED ON VEHS BUILT BEFORE 17NOV20)

Which seems to match what my truck color options are.    My truck build sheet says that my interior is:

H1T - JET BLACK
4AA - INTERIOR TRIM

Basically, I don't want that bronze looking color on the steering wheel.  I'm okay with either black, or the silverish trim like is around my radio.

If necessary, could I reuse the stock black trim from my stock foam wheel on the new leather wheel?

Thanks!

Pretty sure ALL high countrys have the gold/bronze trim.

I didn't see an answer yet, but may have missed it.  Did anybody ever mention what color the silver trim color is?  I'm looking at swapping steering wheel and door panel trim.  I'm fine with all silver to match the current dash and steering wheel trim.

Here's a good close up of the wheel I bought from gmpartsdirect. I think the silver looks ok with the black interior of the custom. I also have the H1T and 4AA option codes.

Did anyone else have to change the toe-in/alignment when they replaced their steering wheel?

*VENT MODE ON*

I couldn't tell you, because the wheel that I ordered from gmpartsdirect.com on March 29th, hasn't shipped yet, and my order status remains "In Progress"....

Yet, it's the same part number that @customdriver ordered from the same place weeks after I did, and he received his in a week!

I've left multiple voice mails and opened multiple help desk tickets which they all closed without replying!

I just want a response from them, letting me know if I'm going to get the part, or if I have to cancel the order.

I have my new gauge cluster and my harness wire, but no steering wheel....

Anyone have a connection at gmpartsdirect.com for me to get some information?  It's been about a month and a half!

    • Which one, the AT or AS?   Starfire is made by Cooper/Goodyear but at $85/tire I'd think I'd need to level-set my expectations that they may not even be round 😉 But you're saying they're decent?   I'm already into this thing $1506 in parts, fluids, etc. Totaled all my receipts today. $250 of that was replacing an EGR and MAP sensor that were probably fine, but I'm not going to return the parts since they've been installed. I'm cheap, but not that cheap. I use it, I keep it!   I may or may not make money if I sell the truck at this point, but, that wasn't really the point. And if I billed my time, I'd be hosed for real. My thought on the tires is I "might" put 1,000 miles on before selling it. I just don't want to put absolute junk on it, that doesn't do anyone any good. If the Solus solidly isn't junk, I'll definitely consider them.
    • I leave mine as is. I'm always a trip away from riding on unpaved roads. Dealer can clean it when they prep it after I trade it in for another new truck.
    • I have these on two vehicles and love them. Pepper is one of them 😉
    • 4WD. Far as I know it came stock with P's and not LT's. Definitely planning to put P's on it, but stock is a 109 XL load rating so I should probably stick within that guideline.   No rebates on anything I can see at the moment. Discount Tire is offering $50 off, but Pep Boys is very competitive on price, and also carries all the off-brand stuff. Les Schwab always wants an arm/leg, but they do good work.   It still has the original spare. Goodyear Wrangler RT/S, thing looks like a tractor tire LOL!! How times have changed.
    • 2020 Sierra 2500 HD (base model) gas engine 4wd.    All 4 windows roll down on their own. Happens somewhat randomly after stop and engine off - when engine turned off, when walking away from vehicle before or after locks activated. Pulled the window fuse F14 Instrument Panel Fuse Block Right; the driver's side still activates from driver's side door panel; passenger and back seat windows activate from local switches on their doors but not from driver's side group of switches. Power mirrors don't activate with fuse removed either (same fuse for both circuits). Problem not solved.    How can they even activate with fuse removed but they are all still opening and can control from each door?  When they open on their own, I can shut them from the switch in each door, but they don't stay closed.    Seems to be activated somehow with key fob; something bumping the key fob in my pocket or just handling - removed key fob and took it far enough away and now the windows stay closed. Replaced key fob batty just in case, no change.    Sounds like some kind of wiring short or maybe electronics. Dealer will first replace electronic control module without checking anything else and I anticipate problem will still exist since their troubleshooting skills are limited to "do whatever the computer says".  In any case, keyfob seems to be activating the circuitry.    Surely I'm not the only one with this issue, but I can't find anything related on the site. What do yall think?   JohnRoy
