I purchased a 2021 Silverado with the towing package along with the extended towing mirrors.  I am hoping to replace them with some kind of power folding mirror as now the truck will not fit in my garage without manually folding in the drivers side mirror.  The dealer told me there is no fix and can not add any power mirror due to the computer in the 2021 Silverado.  Has anyone come up with a fix for this yet?  One would think that spending 62K this might be offered as an option  Thanks.

Another option would be to replace them with the standard, non-towing mirrors.  When I bought my 2020 I wanted the towing mirrors, but there wasn't a truck with them available, so I ended up purchasing some custom fit mirror extensions designed for the Silverado 1500 that slide on and work great for when I tow my travel trailer.  They go on and come off quickly, and allow me to park the truck in the garage (not with them on, however), which like you, I wouldn't be able to do without the towing mirrors being folded back.  Now, if I towed everyday that would be different, but I don't.  I also don't like the large blind spot created by the towing mirrors, and I personally prefer the look of the standard mirrors.

No can do.  You'd have to trade it for an LTZ or High Country 1/2 ton with tow mirrors as they are power folding.

With the way the trucks are set electronically, it might be easier just to do this. ^^^^^^

Jim,

Thanks but I love the truck and as you know, the 6.2 allows me to pull anything even sideways if I want.  Most likely aftermarket will come out with something in a year or so.  I waited 4 months after I built the truck to take delivery so I will happily keep her and fold the mirror in manually for now.

My nephew asked how I like the truck, I told him $945 a month and $3.95 a gal what is there not to like!

Should of got the technology package and you wouldn’t need the tow mirrors.  I have 6.2 with max tow High Country and don’t need the big dumbo looking tow mirrors because with technology package, when I put turn signal on, it shows all the way down past my 35ft trailer on the screen.  Fixes the need for the tow mirrors.  Something to think about if you trade it.  Nice truck otherwise.

Looks like the Technology Package is only available on the LTZ or High Country.  Not an option for my LT Trail Boss.  Neither are power folding towing mirrors.  Its nice that you can see down the length of your trailer when you put the turn signal on.  I can see down the length of my trailer by simply looking into the "big dumbo looking tow mirrors" any time I need to. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the reply I think I will keep the chainsaw in the basement this is a bit extreme even for me.  I drew the line at 60K, had to do some fancy footwork with the Mrs. to get that being how I purchased a new boat the year before and told her I need something to tow it with.  With all the crap going on in the world if folding back the driver side mirror is the worst thing happening to me I consider myself one hell of a lucky guy!

Couldn't agree more. Just like the guys complaining about having to push the auto stop/start button. Really?

Mine are power fold -- but I never seem to have enough space inside to fit the truck.

Do love the remote start to warm it a little before going out in the snow.

    • On my wife's 2020 Blazer (~69000 miles), we started to notice the brakes pulsating at faster speeds. Typically around town you don't notice anything, but highway/interstate driving you will notice it. I decided to pull of the front tires and look at the brakes. I figured with the milage, the pads should be wearing out to their life span, but they actually looked decent. Still with "meat" on them. One pad has a ridge wearing in it, and that same rotor is showing the ridge too. That's not the concerning part...the other rotor appears to have a raised bump on it!  The picture make it look like a pimple! Very odd and strange! NOTE: These are the factory brakes and rotors.   I'm attaching pictures of the front brakes and what they look like ate ~69000 miles.
    • 2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD Custom 6.6 Gas Canadian built Truck  I tried to search for my previous thread on this topic but cant find it so my apoligies  for starting another one    #1   Since we have owned our truck purchased new it has this strange noise after using the remote start function  you press the remote start and you hear it start but right at the end of it starting it almost seems like it wants to start again after the truck is running .   There is no gap in time it is right at the end of the start . Almost sounds like when you have started a car/truck and its running and then you try and start it again and you get that grinding noise ,sort of     #2  You can only hear this if you are standing outside of the truck and near the truck  you cant hear it when you start the truck from inside  the cab . So it may very well be happening when starting the truck that way as in normally    #3   This only happens when it is started after sitting . For how long I don't know but it happens after sitting overnight for sure and it wont do it if you stop the engine after starting and then start it again  I have had it in to the Dealership before concerning this but they did not have the truck  when it was cold to hear it . Now its back in the Dealership left it overnight so they could possibly hear the problem . They said they tried and nothing happened . Well they did not know what they were listening for . I started the truck remotely and BINGO it makes the noise . Oh that sounds weird they say . We need to look into it ! I have left for this week at the Dealership    Does your 2024 2500 HD gas do this ?  Any of you fellas care to take the time and trouble to film this operation from a cold start  so I can hear what your sound like  Really  would like to know if this is anormal sound  Thank You Fellas !!
    • 2026 Z71.  The other day I was backing a trailer into the barn.  The alarm was going off just because the trailer was in the field of the warning sensors when you get too close to something.  For some reason now the warning alarm doesn't work anymore.  It used to go off when I was just normally backing my truck into garage.  I still have the guidelines in the back up camera.  Is there a button or something to push to turn the sound/Alarm on and off?  I have the touch screen in this truck.  There isn't a "P" on the dash except for the parking brake.  I can't find anything in the touch screen under settings or vehicle.  Thank you in advance.
    • Well one of our most reliable vehicles was sold yesterday. The first and only I gave for free to a grandkid. If they got skin in the game they take care of it. My wife bought new. Five years later my daughter got it to use. We got it back and gave it to our grandson after graduation. He did zero maintenance just oil changes. When the AC quit he drove his mother’s car rather than get it fixed. Instead he just bought a beater and sold the Elantra.
    • I usually do as well or better than the sticker for mileage. Usually better going west than east. North then South. Wind makes a difference. I’m not usually a conspiracy theorist. But it did dawn on me I’m going by the vehicle calculation. Now that would be interesting.
