Nice! No plan for long travel here, reading about not lifting more than 2.5” concerns me because my truck is an AT4 and came with rough country 2” level kit. So 4” over normal... I’d want the same height

That level kit would come out, and the Kings would give you the same 2.5" lift (same as factory pretty much)

Right, but I want to keep it around 3.5-4”

BDS makes a great 4" kit with their FOX 2.5s. Id check them out. You keep the factory warranty as well

Yea I’ve checked their kit out. Wish they’d let me save some money by not having adjustable shocks.

I think the Comp Adj. is an option for the 2.5's, otherwise they are just resi's

KINGS are money.....well worth it considering trucks cost 50-70k

I talked to the guys at Accutune.  They recommended Fox over Kings saying the bushings and joints were a little better.  I’m personally going to ride with the Bilstein 5100 setup.  I may swap out the coils later.
I think I’m sold on the Icon Delta Joints too.  They look solid and I think they will hold up well.  Plus they are fully serviceable.  If I went anymore than what I’m doing I’d probably go with the BDS 4” kit.  I’ll put some pics up when I get everything installed.

Good luck dealing with Fox customer service. IMO both are great, but Kings are US made and have phenomenal customer service. Really no noticeable performance difference

That makes a difference IMO.  I’ll keep that in mind if I go away from Bilsteins.

I had Kings on my previous vehicle, a 4runner 5th gen. Loved them, worth every penny. Ran them with Icon delta joint UCAs, eventually replaced them with JBA UCAs (similar to Cognito's design). Didn't have the tools to replace the pressed in joints and would cost a couple hours of labor to get them rebuilt on top of the parts that needed replacing, about $400-500 total to rebuild. I rebuilt them once and sold them as a carcass when they needed a second. Sucked because I take pride in doing most of my mods myself but didn't make sense for me at the time.

Older (and wiser?) me likes the Cognito UCAs with bolt-on ball joints for easy replacement. Quieter than uniballs and easier to replace. The deltas were quiet but rebuilds were costly. Also doesn't hurt that every part on the UCA is greasible and rebuildable.

Fwiw, I'm hearing from my peeps that Kings are pushing a 40 week lead time. Not confirmed or validated in any way, this is from friends who have tried to order recently (I hear it's a supply chain issue.) 🤷‍♂️

If you're not ordering from a reputable tuning distributer (Accutune.. etc), you're up ****** creek w/ FOX if you have any issues, and prob looking at longer than the 40 week wait times Kings is currently having. FOX suspension is all manufactured in China.

I heard the same from a buddy of mine. How many miles you get out of the Delta Joints before you needed a replacement kit/joint?

I have the Rough Country upper control arms with Fox 2.0 coilvers (1" over stock) on my Trail Boss.  They're OE type design, affordable, high quality and correct the ball joint angle.  For no more lift than you're doing I think they fit the bill.

Thanks for the info!

I see you wrote they are OEM type designed which is great. Are you currently running OEM wheels, and if so would 285/60/20 fit? More so just wondering about the width. I know AT4s and TB come with 275 wide but would 285 rub on the UCAs?

Thanks

i basically have bilstein 5100 AT4  suspension and picked up Cognito UCA......reason is replaceable joint and they fit with stock wheels.........they were $399 pair......my tires are 275/60 or 65/R20....whatever the elevation wheel is

any UCA is better than stock......they really are cheap once you see them off the truck, i was actually kinda shocked.....a soda pop can is first thing i thought of when i got my stock UCAs back.....

    • My 2015 1500 LTZ Silverado suddenly won't go into 4 x 4 low. It will go into 4 x 4 high.
    • Yep, just a quick reference point.    My main point being I’d do a thousand other things before I’d pay 10k for a transmission.    Speaking in ignorance cause I don’t look at these trucks, what is it worth? 20k?
    • I think users are going to want to pick their monitored parameters, which parameters they want to see first.    It should probably start with baseline at a minimum and adjust to learned, but be able to overlay baseline for comparison.   A simple severity level would be able to determine what type of alerting is appropriate or user selectable.    Why not use the OBD port though?   I think a phone connection would be a good idea, push notifications type deal.   Number 1 issue is having data is useless if you don’t know what the data should be under normal conditions.
    • I thought I would use your thread and add to it as I just did my first longer drive with my truck in the last couple of days. I drove from the Grande Prairie area of Alberta down to Edmonton and most of where I drove in the city was the ring road so fairly free flowing but a bit of stop and go as well in the city. Stayed the night and returned home and not too many stops along the way each way but every restart and certainly every cold start sets it back for fuel mileage. Why I say that is I see some people will cherry pick a fuel mileage leg after the vehicle had been warmed up driveline wise before hand and its a forgiving ( easy rolling drive leg for example ) and call that their fuel mileage which can give a false perception of reality. I was not heavily loaded at all but never the less the flip bak cover, rubber bed mat, various tools etc and extra jerry cans of fuel all way up to a few hundred pounds of dead weight so its not an empty truck. The cold inflation tire pressures are set more near the freezing point so once they are warmed up driving I was showing 45 front and over 40 rear and realize high inflation pressures would help a little in fuel mileage but certainly not the ride on our crap sections of highway. The weather was good so was not raining as that can really drag mileage down, in fact I had a bit of a tail wind on average driving home. Most people on here would never have driven on that freeway to visualize it but its got a fair bit of rolling type of landscape with numerous river valleys. For the most part I had it on cruise set to 62 although kicking it off if I caught it in time before it started down shifting and self braking going down the grades. Most of the more substantial grades its shifting into 7th I believe as 8th just doesn't have it. Total distance round trip was 643 miles and my overall average and I did refuel three times in all, figured out to 17.65 miles per US gallon. My best fuel mileage section refuel within all of this figured out to 18.46 and these are all hand calculated figures. I find if anything that the trucks computer can be over optimistic, sometimes its pretty close but other times its stretching it. On paper persay in theory the truck would have just about made it on fumes for that whole drive without refueling once.    Which made me think of the topic thread of the wonder if these trucks could do 20 mpg and that is a good question, certainly would have to be on an easy going flat highway, no head wind, the right temperature, not packing around a bunch of dead weight and puttering along even slower than I was I would suspect and going steady and not stopping to smell the flowers or take a piss !. It probably is possible but not without effort to attain that with the wind resistance and weight of these trucks. Of course on my drive most people are passing me if they have the power as per loaded highway tractors, never mind a lot of speedy vehicles but the speed limit is 68 and most are at or well over that.
    • Monday looks like a good day for the dealer to test an ac issue. Hopefully it all turns out good.
