So as always I woke up to my coffee and cars daily reading and car and driver had this article in the new Tundra.

I know the GM trucks get p!ssed on for looking like crap(I like them), but this new truck looks like something from a GTA game on PS5. Ugh

What are all your thoughts.

I don't think it looks bad, looks like a larger Tacomo and it's always been a good seller. Just hope they've managed to cut some weight and gain some fuel economy. Still not gonna buy one, but at least it doesn't look like a 1996 model anymore.

Half ton trucks are getting too big in your face monsters. My 14 next to my 92. On the other hand Ford is coming out with a small hybrid pickup starting at 20K. Saying it will get 40 mpg.

I stated this a few years ago. I took my 97 C/K and sat it next to a Colorado ZR2 and the midsize truck was about same size as the full-size. It’s crazy how large they are getting. I was detailing a few new trucks this past week and they take a bit of work to detail now. Lol

That's terrible... I think the Silverado and GM trucks look good. Apparently others do as well being the best selling pickup. Tundra?  Not my cup of tea.  Last gen looked like a bullfrog on steroids and the front of these look like a big catfish mouth.  Horrible. To each his own though.

As a current Tundra driver, the new one looks as expected. Like most Toyota designs of the last several years, it seems like it's trying too hard to be cool. I think that about most new vehicles though.

Like @Daly said, it looks like a bigger Tacoma. I see some of the 4Runner's face in it as well.

I wish the front end wasn't so huge. For a company whose truck demographic is far more off-roaders than work fleet/commercial use, you'd think they'd create a better approach angle on their top-of-the-line off road truck. It's too low.

I wonder what the lower trims will look like and if there will be any chrome on that face. They may have decided to do away with chrome like the 4Runner (the only 4Runner trim with any chrome is the Limited, and it's an accent rather than a whole bumper).

I'm curious to see official powertrain specs. If the rumors are true, it seems it's going to be basically Toyota's version of an EcoBoost with a Powerboost option (TTv6 with hybrid). It can be argued that Ford's powerboost was taken from or at least inspired by Toyota, as the two automakers decided to work together on a hybrid truck design several years ago, and Ford abruptly walked away with Toyota's blueprints in hand.

If it addresses the two main issues people have with the current Tundra (payload and MPG), I'm sure it'll be a hit. I hope the interior has less chrome than my '21 as well.

For the most part I actually like it. I do think it needs a bit more ride height, and more tire. Especially in that TRD Pro configuration to keep proportions in line. They tried to hype it as a Raptor competitor but that’s clearly not so. Not even really a Trail Boss competitor to be honest.

I also understand the shock and initial reaction. It’s bold, and there hasn’t been a new Tundra since 1947.

Maybe they will pick up (see what I did there) some of the Ford crowd.

The current-generation Tundra uses the 5.7-liter iForce V-8 engine, which produces 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. It's paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. We expect that the new iForce MAX will be a hybrid drivetrain with either a twin-turbocharged or naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6 engine because of three intake runners on each side and blue "MAX" lettering. A nonhybrid version of this six-cylinder makes 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque in the new global Land Cruiser. Toyota also says that an electric pickup truck will arrive soon, but it's not clear if it'll be a Tundra.

That is an ugly truck to me. Looks worse than the new Silverado HD front end, and I didn't think anyone could make a more ugly front end than GM did with the HD, but hey, I was wrong. Good job Toyota. To me, it is hard to beat the style of the GMC/SIlverado 1500's. Previous gen Toyota looked better, and now they are down there with the Nissan Titan for styling. Wow.

Looks like someone finally made a truck uglier than the newish Silverados...at least in that pic.  The pic of the red one looks kinda cool.  Kinda mean.

Am a long time Toyota owner that purchased a Sierra half ton in last few months - this type of styling is what made me go back to GM.   .  I was curious to see what the next generation Tundra was going to look like, as i knew it was coming down the line somewhat shortly after i bought my Sierra.   Glad i went GMC
