Alright, before you say you don’t hear anything let me explain first. This video posted below is my 2021 Trail Boss 3500k miles and has the most annoying exhaust sound. I know there’s some serious pro’s on here who could tell me what’s going on.

Essentially any time I start it up high RPM, accelerate, or decrease RPM’s I’m greeted with this annoying metallic rattling noise coming from exhaust.

Took it to dealer who claims it’s normal (per-usual) and says it’s the liters I can hear in the exhaust tone. They checked exhaust donuts and heat shields and found no issue.

However you can hear a rattle and what sounds like an exhaust leak. Was told it’s a flapper but it’s not, flapper is toward back passenger side. This is front passenger side.

I could best describe it as escaping air coming from somewhere near the manifold I’d assume. Almost like a metallic farting exhaust noise for lack of better description.

Videos to follow of noise while commuting.

Little update: Below is NOT my video though it's the EXACT sound/noise that I'm hearing when driving coming from the front end.

I've spoken with this individual and he said his issue was the flapper. However, there's no flapper at the front end of a 2021 Trail Boss. There's only ( 1 ) right before the muffler. As you can hear in the video I posted above, the noise gets louder as I get closer to cat and slowly goes away as RPM's drop.

Alright as promised, took some videos of noise while commuting.

I apologize the quality isn't the best but it is there and audible especially in the video upon stopping.

Exhaust/Rattle Noise when stopping (this noise is consistent while driving too)

It's normal. I have a 2021 TB with the 6.2. It makes the same sounds. I cut the stock muffler and flapper out and installed a straight through 3.5" muffler and I still hear it. It is the sounds of the DFM working.

Put the truck in Manual shifting mode to M9 and try coming to a stop. By shifting in L9 you disable the DFM system. You won't hear that sound anymore.  My boys say the truck is farting when they hear it.

My 2021 6.2 makes this annoying sound as well. Mostly noticeable under light throttle in higher gear. I have Dfm disabled with the pulsar lt. So I’m assuming it’s an exhaust noise which sounds like a leak. I have 2200k miles btw.

Put a Corsa Catback on it.....problem solved. The junk stock exhaust with the flappers are a joke.

Someone mentioned they have an aftermarket exhaust and still have the noise. I’m a little confused now. Is this something with the exhaust manifold? Maybe direct injection noise?

I have had my Corsa on for almost 2 years and 30k miles. I don't have any issues with it. Maybe it is someone who just cut off the flappers or stock exhaust and welded in a straight pipe or another exhaust muffler. The Corsa Cat-back is very well constructed, sounds excellent, and straight forward to put on! I love it!

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
