I'm officially stupid...

So I get in my truck this AM and it will not start, starter just keeps running. Checked everything no codes thinking at this point here we go a trip to the dealer.  So what did I do last a full clean-up including removing the floor mats to clean.

 

Well it was dark when I put them back in and I did not get the drivers side in all the way it was touching the gas pedal, Installed correctly and all is good. Learn something new everyday!!

Yep, you initiated clear flood mode. I do that after changing my oil to allow the filter to fill and prime the system before starting.

Don't feel bad we all been there, I bought a new weedwacker a few years ago after old one died and the 2nd time using it wouldn't start after about a half hour trying to start it iam soaking wet from sweat pulled the plug out twice using a torch to dry the flooded cylinder out of fuel tried starting still nothing then realized the old one had a kill button this new one had a on off switch that I forgot about, switched to on and fired right up, I called myself a bunch of cuss words along with dumb S.O.B.

I'm guilty as well.  Long time ago back in 2005 or so in my 2002 Silverado, I was on a trip to TX and went to clean my windshield with washers.  Well I hit the wipers to wash and no fluid, did it again and nothing.  I figured the pump went out for the washer fluid.  Went and got a new one and and installed it and same thing, then I realized I was just hitting the one wipe button, not the wash button.  Lesson learned and I had an extra washer pump.    Life goes one.  One thing, this thread brought to my attention the "clear flood mode"  never knew about that.  Good to know!

I can go farther back. Wife’s first new car in awhile 94 impala ss. I turned off the car and the radio was still playing with the key off. I thought there was a short. I sat for awhile pull out the manual after awhile it turns off. I finally figured it out.

Time to bring out the dumb things I've done.  One other was when I had my 1988 Beretta, Remember those?  Loved that little car with the 2.8 and 5sp.  Well changed the oil and forgot to put the cap back on, but had it on top of that nice shinny aluminum manifold.  Went to close the hood and it didn't want to close. Then there was this nice dimple in the hood. Car was black so you could really see it.  Needless to say, I never did that again.

 

Dad said, learning from mistakes is the best teacher, but is the hard way to learn.

My turn again... Back to the 90s changed the front brakes on my daughter's Lumina dropped the jack jumped in to back out for a test run.... I forgot to pump them back up! stopped when I bumped the old 69 Falcon no damage love them old steel bumpers.

Ok father back. Doing a tune up on my 68 fastback Chevy impala. I was 19 years old not my first tune up. It was during lunch in front of about 20 people who worked for my dad. They loved to pick on me. Some are on the fender poking at me. Put the points in set with a gauge, no dwell meter. Plugs wires, plugs. Finish shut the hood back to work. Quitting time, it doesn’t start. About half the guys are rolling with laughter. I had the rotor backwards. A couple saw me do it. Didn’t live that down for awhile.
