Took a trip downstate yesterday and noticed that prices are the highest in the poorest counties. What's up with that?

Someone asked a question about the difference in gas prices in different areas I’ve heard, read or was told. Gas prices have to do with the delivery of the load in the ground. They changed with each delivery. Daily I can pass at least 10 gas stations. The supermarket prices are usually lower as is quick trip. Valero is usually is too. Going to my rural area I pass three Exxons and a Sunoco. They usually are 10-20 cents higher. One of the major subdivisions main roads during the Covid outbreak had two gas stations across from each other had very low prices. There wasn’t much traffic everyone was staying home. The quick trip at the interstate was much higher. There’s walking trails close to both, I switch out. In one day’s time they went up 20 cents. I went in and asked what happened? They said they finally had a delivery. I’m sure that’s not a hard fast rule. But if want to sell you have to be competitive. Another is if they do something that draws a crowd like great food. I’ve witnessed that in my travels. You have time constraints you get gas while waiting for great food. I’ve done that. Send in the wife, I’m pumping gas. Ripping off the poor? I’m sure they can get gas a few miles down the road.

$7.08 per Gallon today in Germany.  I have friends and family there. I'm feeling pretty good right now about my $3/$4 fuel.
