I have a 22 with 120k miles on it and the torque converter went out. I’m look to replace with a good aftermarket converter that will handle towing well. I also am upgrading the trans cooler and line as well as the thermal bypass valve for the trans temp. Looking for recommendations

I've been web searching for this same thing lately.  Fortunately I'm not in a hurry, but I was looking to find the "heavier duty" options out there as a possible preventive measure.

What I've found is not much.  Most options are high-stall converters for race applications.  There is some info on the Sonnax web site, but their stuff seems to be all upgraded rebuild components for converters.  The directions of which start with "cut the converter open"... beyond my capabilities.

Circle D, PATC or Florida Converter. Call. Wed sites tell you little but what's popular, not what they are willing to do.

I had a Circle D in my GTO. Very good reputation and good customer service that I had with them although that was 15 years ago. Back then in the heat of the LSx performance days them and FTI were the hot companies.

Don't be scared by race car stuff. If they can build a race converter/trans they can build a truck one too. Pretty much all the same stuff except for trans they might not be as aggressive on valve body pressure and with converter they will set the stall to stock if you ask.

If my stuff ever goes out the dealer can pound sand, I'm calling Circle D and getting built stuff to put in.
