Hi all. So my truck has started to show signs of the torque converter giving up. 2018 5.3 with the 6L80 with almost 107000 miles. There's a hiss coming from the front of the transmission and it seems to slip just a little every now and then with heavier throttle, but otherwise still drives fine. It's been this way for a week or so, and I've started driving like a granny in hopes it delays the inevitable.

What I wanna know is how long do I have left? Could the truck make it for another month or so (~1800 miles) if I keep a light foot?

Impossible to really say. If it's already slipping that bad, the front pump is surely going to give out soon and then you'll have nothing.

Do you have a plan when it fails? Fix, sell, alternate transportation? If you know it is going to fail, personally I would be proactive and get it fixed now before you destroy the whole transmission, JMO.

It probably won't take long if you are seeing warning signs. When mine gave out around 94k miles, I didn't get any warning that there was a problem. One minute I'm driving down a back road in Alabama, next minute, I'm stuck on the side and the truck wouldn't move forward or reverse. I had been trying to accelerate and the rpms suddenly jumped as I began to unfortunately slow down until I came to a stop completely.
