It's under warranty still. They did question the level, but the guys at the service dept at my dealership are all pretty cool guys. The first time they blamed it on the guys that did my alignment so I went back to them and they couldn't get it to go away. The reason they didn't see it the second time is, for me at least, the truck has to be warm for the clicking to start. Mine doesn't do it when it's cold.

 

Your dealership should take care of it unless they can prove your lift caused it.

I was told it was the gear box by the dealer but then I posted something about it on here and was told the 1500's don't have a gear box. But I guess steering gear is different then gear box. Anywho mines been replaced twice, the second time they didn't want to since it had already been replaced but the noise got worse. They actually jumped in a newer one on the lot and heard the same noise, they said its due to bigger tires. Well finally a third time to the dealer they replaced it, apparently the first manufacturer of the parts weren't very good so they changed manufacturers. So far no issues on the new on and it's been about a month since then.

I have a 2014 GMC Sierra all terrain with 5inch rcx lift kit , 20x10 rockstar rims with -24 offset and 305/55/20 copper zeon ltz tires , amp power step , bushwaker pocket style fended flares , boral exhaust with metal mulisha 4 inch tip ... Looking to put 1.25 rough country or 1.5 zone body lift to fit 35's

Seeing you have had this lift on for several months now can you give your opinion on it ? are you still happy with it. Can you post your fender height? Thanks

I have a RC 2.5 with zone 1.5 body lift. I'm being told now for proper alignment I needed to remove these from the factory. Trucks camber is off. Is that correct. Here's a pic.

Guess I'll be doing the RC 7.5" cause that looks good!

 

Do you have a total height measurement? Have to fit in a parking garage.

Always remember this. Just because the parking garage says a certain height doesn't mean you'll fit. I found one that said 6'10 and I fit great. Well went to another one in a different city that said 6'10 too and thought yeah ill fit except in this one they didn't take into account the cross beams that support the different levels leaving me no joke .75" to 1" of clearance and some of the signs and exit signs hung lower than that so had to dodge them to avoid ripping them off.

anyone have any experience with the RC 1.25" body lift

thinking of adding it, already have the 2.5" level front only..

Good point indeed. Garage (airport) I mostly need to fit into is 8'2" which at 98" should be plenty but there are signs that, I'm sure, they didn't account for and I do park in some downtown structure which seem like they are only made for miatas. It's always a good idea to know before a build begins.

I'm getting RC 5 inch lift on my 14 sierra z71. I like my oem 18s with my 275/65/18 that only have about 350 miles on them. Will this setup look ok. I'm assuming I'll need spacers.

Also keep in mind any gates. School garage has a gate that folds as it raises to form an Upside down L, I have a good 8" of clearance everywhere except under that thing. I have to hang wide so it doesn't smack up my xm antenna. It already hit it once (first time I went under it) and left white paint all over one side [emoji19]

yes, you will need to remove the white plastic piece in order move the cam bolt. this will move the upper control arm in or out to adjust camber. be careful not wrench too hard, the pressed in pin that it rides along can come loose very easily. i already had to weld mine back in place.

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?   
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
