Saw this on another forum (See below). Some guy was asking about lifting his Ford truck 4'-6' and putting 35s on. This is a response he received. What do you guys think about it? Personally I'm looking more toward a 4in with 33s but found this intriguing as a few people agreed with the dude. I found it funny it was on a "Lift" forum...I guess the guy likes to troll or he is a public servant...

"Lifting a Ford and lifting a Chevy are 2 entirely different conversations as they are completely different animals. Lifting a GM requires the best of the best in quality of parts and design of the system. There isn't a cheap lift kit for a GM.

As a former business owner and someone who used to install lift kits professionally, I would strongly recommend against EVER lifting a 1/2 ton truck. The running gear in any of the Big 3's 1/2 ton trucks is simply nothing more than Chevy Caprice, Ford Crown Victoria, and Dodge Dakota/Durango respectively. The increased loads put on the transmission and differentials with 35" tires is tremendous.

Dodge is so bad now that they took their Caravan trans (which has never lived an adequate life anyway) took the transfer gear set and differential out of it and put it in their Dakota's and 1/2 ton's.

Can it be done? Yes, anything can be done. Will you end up with Powertrain issue's? I guarantee it!! I've seen it hundred's of times. $$$$$$$
"

Any input is appreciated. Azz.

did you do the install yourself or had a shop? how much was the lift and install cost?

Sweet ride, I like those wheels :D too bad BMF changed there name to SOTA and its getting hard to find wheels that are stamped BMF.

So ever since I had lift n tires and gears done I've been needing to recal my speedo. Was off a lot. Finally got the balls to tune it with a Diablo Intune i2 yesterday. Did the 91 tune with corrected gear ratio, corrected tire size, firm shifts and DOD off. Took a ride today to a buddies house and this is what I am getting for mpg now. I was pleasantly surprised.

Solid 18 mpg combined highway/town.

Cruise on 70 = 18.1mpg

Cruise on 75 = 16.2mpg

Off highway back roads to his house... get this...over 19mpg!!

Tranny shifts way better. No V4 crap. All around better response and drive.

That's awesome brotha!!! Great to hear that, I've been hesitant to pull the trigger on a Diablo tune as I've had and liked the edge tuners. But I have all Apple stuff and edge isn't OS X compatible and Diablo is. So needless to say your happy with it and definitely have a proven mpg increase. You like the power as well? And what gears did you put in? I was thinking about re gearing to 4.10's

I really like it so far. Honestly shocked at the mpg's I'm getting. I put in 4.10 Yukons when I had lift and wheels/tires done. Very happy with the choice.

Yes much better. I thought the Ranchos up front and the zone shocks where good until i put the Bilsteins on. Way better. Truck feels smother and more panted to the ground.

Do you have Bilsteins in the back as well?
