It is located between the battery terminal connection and the relay

The inline fuse is on the hid wiring harness that connects directly to the battery for power.

 

Thank you, I kinda figured that's where it would be but just had to make sure. I ordered the relay for my HID kit and thanks to everybody's information I should have everything I need and hopefully everything will go well when I install it.

I have read the entire HID thread and there are so many different opinions. I have a 2014 Sierra SLT and want HID. Can you let me know if I have the right items to have HID's without the headaches? 9012 Morimoto HID Elite system( 3 five dap ballast, 9012 4300k bulbs 3 five dap, Canbus 9012,) plus I added the 9012 HD Morimoto Relay. Am I missing anything? Also do these new HID ballast cause radio static interference? 9 yrs ago I tried Ebay HID kit and my radio reception sucked and the ballast kept blowing with the auto headlights.

Hey guys, I guess I'm confused about the issue with putting the Yukon HIDs into the Sierra.

I have a Silverado and I thought it would be a great idea to swap out for the new Tahoe LTZ HID lights. I figured they would be the closest thing to our headlights as far as compatibility?

I do not believed that anyone so far put yukon hid into a sierra yet. What are you referring to when you say "yukon hid"? As for the silverado 2014, no one has mentioned that they swapped out a tahoe ltz hid lights into a silverado yet? Do you KNOW if a tahoe ltz hid lights are compatible with the silverado?

If you have a silvy just retro a new projector into there. From the results I've seen on here and outside of this forum, you'd be happier with the new projector and HIDs.

I meant the Yukon Denali HIDs (OEM). There was a previous post in this thread about this. Also unfortunately, I am not sure the new Tahoe LTZ hid lights are compatible with the Silverado. Just hopeful thinking at this point.

Did you use the dealer locator on TRS? No disrespect to Ben, as his is a generous offer. But I'd pick the most respected installer and ship them 2 day air to wherever they are. Unfortunately, many so-called professionals are part time home garage mechanics in this business, probably due to the fact that the volume of retrofits is just not consistent. Find a real business that guarantees their work. Some of the disclaimers I read on "professional" retrofitter sites would deter me from having them wash my truck, let alone hack into $1200 worth of my headlights. Basically, some of them take no responsibility whatsoever for anything.

 

Find a well respected one and use your credit card to pay so you have some recourse for dispute resolution.

Give it a try on your own if you have a silverado...you be surprise how easy it is once you do one light.

For me, it isn't the "difficulty" that gives me pause. I've stripped cars completely down to a shell, rebuilt engines, transmissions, diffs, body and paint work, etc.. But, I use my truck for my daily 40 mile a day commuter as well as for long road trips across the country and back-country off-roading. Reliability is a THE top consideration for me on any mod I do. I have been standing on the side of the road between BF Egypt and no-where with the hood up enough times that I consider what modifications I do very carefully and who does them. I googled HID retrofit reviews and found some pretty ugly stuff. Shelling out $1200 for a set of headlights wouldn't change my life one way or another nor cause any hardship. However, I know it's different for others. My concern is that it could ruin my much valued hunting and vacation trips if a serious problem occurred during one of them. I don't have much patience for things that don't work as advertised.

It is pretty easy if you have a little patience. if you don't mind paying someone and they can warranty the works. I'd say go for it...

As for me, I'm just trying to help and you don't have to go with me" just do a little searching and I'm sure you can find a shop that can do it for your piece of mind.. :)

I did about 10 set of headlights so far. 6 of them are my own vehicle and 4 of them are friends... Been well over 5 years and none of them have problems or moisture issue..

Like I said, if you take a little time and patience. You can do it just fine... ;)

      You could try a used 1, they used that engine in the Astro vans, Plenty of them in the boneyard. Look for a wrecked or rotted 1 so the chance that it was scrapped for that reason and not a mechanical issue will be greater

      2018 Silverado Console USB Port Not Working

      My centre console USB ports haven’t been working and the one in the glovebox is starting to act up. When I plug my phone into the cord the radio will go black and stop playing, and the CarPlay is inconsistent.   I checked the fuses and they were fine. I changed the USB port out and still nothing. Hoping for some advice on what I should be looking at.

      The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
