I went to take pics, and rotated the bulb one more time, fixed it right up, looks 100% better now.

Does anyone know of shops that do custom headlights? I know fast headlights does but they are not taking orders. Really want to get my headlights done.

 

I used HID Illusionz twice and both times had great results. This was 3 or 4 years ago, but I'd have to assume they're still doing quality work.

So checked the bulbs out last night figured I was gonna put them in today but a couple of friends want to hit the casino so I'm going to try tomorrow.

 

Looking at one of the bulbs the protective coating around the filament on the outside is cracked. Does this serve any other purpose besides protection? Do I need to get another bulb.

Wont affect the performance of it for now, but you should get it replaced. You dont want lose pieces rubbing against each other causing premature wear on that wire.

Can someone tell me a good place to use as a ground on the 2014 Silverado? I swear every bolt around the engine/bumper I check is shorted. I'm trying to install my TRS kit and they keep telling me my ground is bad. Where's a known good spot to ground the ballast?

I grounded mine to those little bars in the front corners of the bay. That way once the dust cover thing went back on it would hide the wires

Haven't had an issue with that spot

I grounded on the stud below the in the same exact way without grinding anything. The nut will get to metal as it threads on.

Is there any particular way the bulbs are supposed to pointed filament wise? Up, down, inward towards the engine bay, outward?

 

Also did you all remove the headlights to install or just work through the engine bay.

I pulled off the headlights just so I could hide all the wires more easily

I see. I might do that as well just depends on how hard that piece between the grille and the bumper is to remove.

 

What did everyone use for sealant? Silicon? Butyl tape? Just the rubber grommet?

It's pretty easy to remove. Start by laying a blanket or something down on the ground if you dont have someone to help you. It fell off when I did it and chipped my paint.

 

1. Remove one 7mm screw from fender

2. pull the fender liner out a bit

3. remove second 7mm screw thats facing toward the ground up inside the fender

4. pull on corner of plastic piece until it pops out (takes quite a bit of force)

5. lay under vehicle and use a flat screw driver to pop out the clips along the top of the bumper.

The hardest part are two of the 4 bolts underneath, but once you do it you can take it all out in 30 min or less.
