What is the max range you have seen?

749 IIRC, but unfortunately I didn't get a picture of it. It has nothing to do with your trip meters, but everything to do with your recent running MPG. I averaged just under 27 MPG on the prior tank while driving 45 MPH in Yellowstone, then going out of the East side down the switchbacks during a severe rainstorm. Not only raining cats and dogs, but also overhead rocks to dodge on the way down.

Cannot remember my last 25, 50, and 400 for that tank, but they were extremely high numbers.

I've seen the 6 hundreds several times, so I'm thinking it must be based off your last 25, 50, or even possibly another unknown number between 50 and 400. I just don't think it could be based on the last 400, or most would only be seeing numbers up to the high 5 hundreds on a good day.

It does recalculate while you are driving, both adding to or removing range, depending on your current running MPG.

Took a pic when I hit 11,111 miles. The mileage is part freeway/part city driving.

I know there's not a lot of miles on the trip but it gives an idea of the freeway mileage. Not bad considering 10" lift, 38"s, and 6.2L

Just got back from a 403 mile trip. Averaged about 65 mph, about 90% highway, mixture of relatively flat ground to mild hills, temp about 75. I averaged 21.2 hand calculated ( DIC said 21.3). That's pretty good for a 6.2L with LT tires.

That's easy to do if you reset the trip meters just before you head down a long pass!

Let's see your best averages!

Oh and I have a 6.2!

I would show my 400 mile average but I have been towing my camper in the last 400 so it's nothing exciting

But you really can't fake the 50 mile average! I got these numbers on my last trip to Denver and some of it was in rush hour traffic

Totally unrelated but besides that awesome mpg reading, I never noticed the Denali had a different speedometer gauge (more lines on it).

About the bigger DIC though, is the order of the top gauges customizable? Off topic hehe

Yes one of these days I'll have to take a video of the animation when you change themes and go in and out of tow mode

I don't see an instantaneous mpg reading reading on that screen. Does it show that?

See the number on the left (54 mpg) of the chevy screen. That number helps a lot as the bar tops out at 35 mpg or so. (going by memory forgot the exact range of the bar graph)

I put about 250 miles on this weekend. Mixed interstate, county highway, country roads (flat, temps in mid 60-70). Not bad at all. Driving back and forth to work I'm getting about 23 average. Life of truck 20.1 so far. Makes it hard for me to lift the front end a bit, but I'm still doing it :D

I really don't think leveling hurts the MPGs much. It's more due to the change to AT or heavier tires.

Agreed. Switching over to the heavier AT tires is when I noticed the biggest change on my last truck. This time I am also going to leave the front spoiler on (for now!)

Looking at some of these good mpgs....I'm starting to wonder if something is wrong. I've got 1500 miles on the truck....lifetime is only 18.1 and best I've seen on trip reset at fill up is 18.4. I drive mostly interstate to and from work, no significant traffic and usually run 70ish....I'm completely stock....Should I be concerned?? I don't like the fact that I can't even come close to the 22-23 hwy.

I have the 5.3 w/ 3.42

You will probably only see 22 mpg on a 55 mph highway and not driving into a headwind.

I have the 5.3 with 3.42 and I got 21mpg hand calculated on my drive up to ATL from south Florida, did 75ish all the way.

On city driving though, all I get is the high 16's. No idea how some guys get almost 19-20.

I don't drive on the interstate much but the best I have got was 20mpg back in late spring on a trip out to middle TN. Funny thing is my 2002 would get 18.5 mpg on that same trip with heavier tires and no ground scraping air dam.

64 and under on flat ground is the sweet spot. Add hills, head wind, etc and it'll drop quick. I also don't run my cruise much unless it's really flat. The cruise isnt' very smooth even on little inclines and will drop it quick also. I averaged 26.2 on my last 25 miles from work to home. A few stop lights out of town, then 40-62 mph all the way up the highway, then about 45-50 on another country road for a bit. Pretty much ideal conditions.

    • Progress... sort of.   Intake is disassembled, spider is out, fuel lines removed. Used a torch on the stripped screw with the lower intake off, much easier when I've got the intake sitting on my workbench, I made it talk. Walked right out with a pair of vice grips once it was nice and toasty hot.   New parts are piling up on my service cart waiting to be installed. Distributor, temperature sensor, new gaskets, fuel line kit, themostat, water neck.   My new pickle is I don't want to spend $600 on a replacement spider. I'm not sure IT is bad. I'm probably splitting hairs. Or it's $300 to send mine away and another 3 weeks of the truck just sitting. I have half a mind to assemble everything with the old spider to see if I can get away with just replacing the fuel pressure regulator to be safe. The obvious issue was the gushing high pressure fuel line which will be replaced. Getting to the spider really isn't that hard, and now I know what I'm doing , swapping it would be a breeze should it absolutely need one. Stupid, or smart?   The part that gives me pause is replacing the distributor. Well, it's already out. And I didn't mark it, whoopsie! Engine was at TDC when I removed it, I know that, so upon correct reinstall the metal tip on the rotor should point to the TDC mark on the distributor because that's where it was pointing on the old distributor. Worst case I'm a tooth off and have to re-stab it.   But then, what? I assume the truck will start. It doesn't appear the timing can be set. Here's the problem: These distributors can't be rotated but a degree or two, by design. What I read is Cam ****** needs to be -2 to +2 degrees, ideally at 0 (and checked/set above 1000 rpm). There should be enough wiggle to get that properly set, but checking the reported value is another potential issue. My Actron 9185 scanner says it supports enhanced GM PIDs and Cam ****** is one of them but it's unclear that I'll be able to correctly see it over OBD 1.5. I can see why people end up junking these things with life left in them. They're an absolute nightmare with tweener-year diagnostics/electronics and unobtanium parts.   Fingers crossed it starts and idles nicely. There can be hope, right? I'ma buy a lottery ticket the same day just in case.   Next steps..DO IT. I have not installed an intake before so I've been reading and watching a lot. Some say NO RTV except on china walls, some say DO RTV on water ports but not fuel/air intake. 1/4 or 3/8 bead on China walls? I think my strategy will be, obviously, RTV china walls with overlap on the gasket corners. Chapstick-style RTV the water ports. Leave intake ports dry. The only set of intake gaskets I could find locally are Edelbrock performance gaskets (uh...for an asthmatic 190hp V6? LOL) so we'll see how they do.   #NoToolLeftBehind. It took an hour, but my recovery mission for my deep 10mm socket was successful. It had rolled down the bellhousing and wedged itself between what I think are the fuel lines? I couldn't see it at all, but with a junk antenna I had laying around, I blindly went poking/sweeping for it, heard it clink, raised the truck, and caught a sliver glimpse of chrome with a flashlight way up there in Narnia. I had pushed it farther along the lines holding it captive, but within access of severely improvised tools, poking and cursing at it to finally knock it free to where I could get a fingertip on it to bring it home.    Not much to see.

    • It wouldn’t have happened if the government hadn’t mandated outrageous fuel mileage standards. It does very little for the consumer. It adds cost. Back during Covid there was a chip shortage. They gave a rebate for your truck if it didn’t have the chip to turn on cylinder deactivation. It was 50$ because at best you may see 1/2 a mile increase per gallon. Splitting hairs each fuel mileage trick wasn’t mandated. The government doesn’t do the engineering work and say use this until it’s already in use and they like it. The fuel mileage was mandated. And those add ons the results. There’s a mandate and they are the results.
