Although I feel your post is extemely trolling ill entertain the fact you think it's a contradiction, you may want the level wheels and tires for hitting the trail and getting in the good ole mud hole or whatever you intend to use ur truck for. I however want the level wheels and tires because I think the look is very sharp looking and hay I dropped xxx amount of money on a truck why not make it exactly how I would like it to look. Hope that clears up the confusion

Yes I just simply said don't expect someone not to say something. You put M/T tires on a truck that won't touch "mud". No one is saying you didn't spend that money but if someone says something when you say no it hasn't went in mud.

Just to clear up some confusion and not waste anymore of our fellow forum members time. I am looking at a 2.5" level with a 20x9 +1 wheel, and would like to know what A/T tire size I can go with (such as the terra grappler G2's just as an example of an A/T tire) with out having to do much trimming and/or none at all, on my 2015 1500 HC

Where are you getting 450-550 for leveling? An rc 2" is $49.

So far i have called 4 places locally here in MT (2 tire shops and 2 custom shops) and thats where their prices are ranging. I havent talked to the dealer yet, may wait on one of those flyers they keep sending out thats 15%off accessories

Those off-topic interjected opinions to simply pass judgement on others will almost always cause confusion and waste time. We can get back on topic, with the 2.5" level and that offsite, I'd still look at the 305/55/20 if you want widest and tallest you can fit with the possibility of a little rubbing with the +1 offset. Although, you might be able to squeeze something taller but narrower in there. All depends on that rim offset you choose. That's what really will determine the size of tire you can run. Check stores or online retailers that specialize in wheel tire combos and give them a call. You'd be surprised on what they can determine over the phone or email. Also, take a look at the 2014+ Wheel and Tire Setup topic here: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/161228-post-your-2014-wheeltire-set-up/?st=0 Might give you good look at what to expect with that offset and size. I know there's some guys on there running that rim with A/Ts. Just a question of their lift/level after that.

 

FYI, The most popular A/T tires I found being ran on here when I was researching them seem to be: BF Goodrich All-Terrain KO2, Toyo A/T II, or Nitto Terra Grapplers G2s.

 

Hope all that helps. Hopefully someone with knowledge on or running that wheel offset with the a 2.5" level can throw in some valuable info.

thanks for this man! Yah I've tried a few emails a lot of guys either want a phone call or the truck at the shop unfortunately I am currently deployed for another few weeks so thought I'd turn to the forums to get some more info. I'll defentiatly check out that other thread !! Edited by wheezy

I have the ready lift 2 1/4 front leveling kit installed on my 15 Denali. I also had the Dealership install the sensor kit to get the magnetic ride to function properly. Now it rides like my wife's 2015 Yukon Denali ~K€.

If you have a jack and basic sockets and a lil mechanical knowledge it's real easy. With alignment and parts I was only out 75 bucks.

 

If you don't have the tools, great time to start take that hundreds saved and buy you a jack and socket set.

Installed mine today. Wasn't bad at all. First side was about an hour figuring what bolts had to come out vs just being loosened. Lol. Second side was 20 mins. Man it looks so much better. Got exactly 2" of lift in the front. Getting my alignment tomorrow.

Here is my truck with 1.5" level kit with 285/55/20 Terra Grapplers and factory mudflaps.

 

What manufacturer level kit did you go with? Was it Ready Lift by chance?

Does anybody know if you need longer rear shocks once you do a level kit, a kit with larger rear blocks of course. Or will it be okay only raising 1"

You'll be OK. I have a 2 inch block in mine and all fine. As far as I read even going w a 3 inch rear block would still be ok

Lol none of that i have. But youre def right im sure itd save me a lot in the long run for things that are DIY doable/fixable. At the same time I always worry about things that arent 100% cosmetic that are done outside of a business in case something happens ya know.

    • I had skimmed through that article when you posted the link and honestly I felt rather defeated in a sense and realized that all these years in changing oil that in fact putting in what I was told was a good quality oil was probably not filtered as well as it should be although the filter put on the engine would be what ( as long as it never went into bypass mode ) would be the final filtering of the new oil that the engine components would first see, but then the filtering media itself is not up to par to what is ideal because a full flow filter would be too restrictive to filter fine enough for the engines best outcome in the long run. Only one of our tractors over the years which was a Versatile with a 855 Cummins had a separate bypass filter, some engine manufacturers did spec a partial bypass system within the main oil filter but I don't believe any other trucks or equipment I was servicing used such a filter. No doubt a product like the Amsoil bypass system is of benefit as long as nothing goes sideways with the extra plumbing and filter such as a rupture/leak that could cause the oil to pump out of the engine ( yes that Versatile had a remote canister with hoses routed to it as well ). With the idiot egr system on a diesel and as a result forcing a lot more soot into the oil, that certainly isn't helping the diesel engines cause or as you pointed out the GDI engine issue with creating more soot and aside from having a fancy secondary filtering system, changing the oil more often helping lower the total soot load.     So oil manufacturing and the end product is not something one can control and I wonder if there are specs on what various oil packaging companies produce in particle count or size. As to the filtering, if the OEM is not designing a filter size and spec that is really what it could be, they too are short changing the end user and so what is the answer. Of course as you say the oil side can only do so much if the air side isn't keeping up its end of the picture and air filters are only so efficient and if in a dusty environment such as farm or construction or driving gravel roads there is a lot of dirt to filter out and some of that ends up into the air stream.    Of course the irony in places like where I am where they dump the salt on the highways but also will mix in some calcium or outright pure calcium for problem road area's, or using calcium as dust control on gravel roads, the vehicle that gets used in that environment may rust out before a properly engineered engine and maintenance finally wears out so one has to face that reality in the rust belt.

I made the same switch after getting tired of crawling around under the truck, but I’ve found some dealers are way better than others about getting you in quickly. Curious if yours has been good about scheduling or if you’ve had to look elsewhere for quicker turnaround.
    • Thank you.   I am set on a 3.0 Duramax as my previous truck with a Ford Ecoboost had just as many, if not more, "common" issues.  Cam phasers, timing chain issues, 10-speed valve body and CDF drum, emissions issues, etc.  So I figured, why not get 2x the fuel mileage (these things got 27+mpg on every mixed city/highway test drive I put them through) and better towing capability with resale value to boot?   My minimum, shortest trip will be 50 miles 1-way and I regularly go out of state with a travel trailer.  I'm planning on using this for a marketing/event promotion business also, which would require regular towing of trailers for bands, DJs, sound and lighting gear, along with my personal camera gear for filming events.   Looked at other trucks in the $30k+ price range but the issues seem to be everywhere, plus too many with gaudy mods.  I'm literally sticking with RWD trucks because they tend to be actually used as trucks, vs. the 4x4 models I've seen with unsafe lifts, huge tires, and general mods that would affect reliability (I'm wondering if some of them were tuned, hence the aggressive throttle response and hard shifting).   So my goal is to find a stock, 3.0 with 1 or 2 owners, in good physical condition, and decently well maintained.  Can't seem to find that up here, everything in the $27-30k range has had multiple owners, smoke smell, issues, or body damage.  Or the ridiculously modified trucks with 80k miles for under $27k but lots of problems...
    • That’s pretty tough Grumpy. I reread the previous few posts. They all reference oil changes. Much like your last thread. In my humble opinion it keeps things interesting.
