Rc 2.5" on factory 22s with the factory bridgestone all terrains.

Looks perfect! Very Nice!!!! You're Stock truck is close to mine beings we have the same size wheels and tires... Can you provide me with more details on the RC 2.5 you did... Cost? Self Install? If not, How much labor? Measurements? I have been wanting to get rid of this Rake since I had the truck but it has taken a back shelf on my to do list... What ever I do, it needs to keep the overall height below my Standard Height Garage door which sits at 84" I think...

Weight transference from the front to the rear axle

Confirmed I just measured my co-workers crew cab and indeed I only lost 1/4" in the rear after the front only 2.5" spacer.

 

Now looking into swapping the rear 1.25" for a 1.5" block. I know its not a big difference but i think it should eliminate the nose high appearance. Although to the tape measure iam clearly 1/4" higher. I would like a 1/2" rake. Plus the new 33x12.5 federal mt tires i already ordered this morning.

Confirmed I just measured my co-workers crew cab and indeed I only lost 1/4" in the rear after the front only 2.5" spacer.

 

Now looking into swapping the rear 1.25" for a 1.5" block. I know its not a big difference but i think it should eliminate the nose high appearance. Although to the tape measure iam clearly 1/4" higher. I would like a 1/2" rake. Plus the new 33x12.5 federal mt tires i already ordered this morning.

I installed Hellwig 987 helper springs and that brought it up a half inch. I highly recommend it especially if you tow.

1/4" might be lost and/or gained by observation angle of the tape measure. It's really not a great distance unless you're a carpenter or engineer.

Perhaps it depends on the level kit. Some do a 2" which might create a minimal difference in the rear that is not noticeable also within the 2.5" front spacers themselves they vary. Some raise a true 2.5 while others raise less. In my case i noticed a 2.25" front lift.

So, with my current rake being 36/39 on a DC/StB, I shouldn't be worried about ending up nose high with a 2.5 front only kit?

 

Also, has anybody noticed a trend with perhaps double cabs generally having more rake than the crew cabs? Could that be why most crew cabs tend to be fine with the 2" level and a lot of people using the 2.5" tend to be double cab truck owners? Perhaps the added weight closer to the axle by "removing" the light/empty bedspace for a heavier cab extension with seats and excess components??

Ill have ro measure it when i pull it in my shop tomorrow. Im actually considerinf oull the levling kit off. I installed the kit myself. Its not hard of you habe a afternoon and the tools to do it.

I just bought a 2" levelling kit from supreme suspensions and the differential drop. When I install the differential drop will I have to trim anything on the cross member? I know on my 2010 Silverado with my 3.5" RC I had to trim the cross member when I installed this.

 

Also is a diff drop that necessary with this 2" mod? I don't see many people doing it, but I know it's probably best.

 

I'm more looking for an answer to the trimming/ instillation but any comments are welcome.

I was wondering on the diff drop myself. Haven't seen anybody do it; even those with the 2.5" front lift. I saw the only RC 3.5 video and yup they cut out a part of the cross member as you mentioned. I have a 2.5" steel spacer on mine which netted me 2.25" and the angles look good compared to my previous canyon truck with a similar front lift. So iam leaving mine as it is with no diff drop unless down the road it's necessary and perhaps a small spacer without having to cut the cross member is released. I haven't really looked under to see how close is the front diff to the crossmember.

Everyone measure to the center of the wheel well opening on these trucks to determine level but should be measuring from the bottom of the cab at the front just behind the front wheel well and rear of the cab before the bed . The rear wheel well is actually cut higher than the front so when the openings are level the front of the truck is actually higher. If you measure the bed the rear of the bed by the tailgate is actually 1" taller than the front of the bed closest to the cab the only way to have the bed rails sit level is to have higher front end. These trucks don't have as much rake as everyone thinks, It's just a visual thing because of the taper on the bed and the higher opening of the rear wheel well. I put a 6' level on the running boards and it was dead level when the rear wheel well opening was about an inch higher than the front.

2.5 rc kit and 295/60/20 nitto trail grapplers. attachicon.gifimage.jpg

That looks great. I want to do the same with my 14 Silverado. I have the 2.5" RC leveling kit also. The shop told me that I could only run the 285/55r20 terra grappler G2 on it without rubbing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.  
    • Thank You.   So far my new ride is making me look like a genius for going with the 3.0L, as my first fuel refill occurred over three weeks from when I took delivery.  This engine combination is very amazing.  So far no issues and had not done a regen yet.
    • I am curious as to how much fluid you put back in the transmission ( assuming you had replaced the filter to compare to my findings ) and then went through the process of warming up the trans before pulling the check plug to drain out the excess and if you measured how much came back out.    I just found it surprising that some claimed a certain amount less fluid being put in and then draining some back out. The attitude of the truck as per if the surface is level and how the trucks stance is would make quite a difference since the check plug is right at the front of the transmission.
