It works easy if you touch the pointer right on valve stem

why even bother getting tpms? i havent had them for 2-3 years now it doesnt make the truck do anything different

Even when i had TPMS that light came on so often it might as well have just stayed lit. Any night the temp dropped that puppy would be on it the morn. Youll save a lot of te and money by learning to just live with it like just like we all live with the terrible trans tuning

Certainly is possible. Any way you can tell if they are TPMS just by looking at the valve stem? I know it actually sits inside the rim just looking for best case scenario  
Wiggle the stem, if there's a sensor you'll feel it hit the wheel. If not the stem will move freely. It can have a sensor stem in it without the actual sensor screwed on it. Chances are the guy that sold them to you had the tire shop pull the sensors off the stems and put them in his new wheels to save a couple hundred dollars.

Some of us get neither TPMS lights NOR terrible trans tuning.  I've NEVER had the light come on; but then, I keep my tires slightly overfilled at 38 psi.  Never had a light even with 40* overnight temp swings.

 

Illuminated dash lights, like rust, are a crime.

I just got one on amazon and it worked on 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 GM vehicles.  haven't tried it on a 2019, but I do not think they changed the TPMS systems.

Recently discovered this PIA TPMS thing on my 2018 (and trying the release/add air method didn't work).  My 2014 Grand Cherokee relearned it all by itself, so why can't GM do it?  I mean, really?  Sorry, but I'm not paying for a freakin tool to reset my stupid TPMS every time I rotate tires.  Just one more tidbit to add to the list of things that are starting to annoy me about this truck.

I found the GM tool on amazon, real easy procedure.

4. Start with the driver side front tire.

5. Remove the valve cap from the valve cap stem.

Activate the TPMS sensor by increasing or

decreasing the tire's air pressure for five seconds,

or until a horn chirp sounds. The horn chirp, which

may take up to 30 seconds to sound, confirms that

the sensor identification code has been matched to

this tire and wheel position.

6. Proceed to the passenger side front tire, and

repeat the procedure in Step 5.

7. Proceed to the passenger side rear tire, and repeat

the procedure in Step 5.

8. Proceed to the driver side rear tire, and repeat the

procedure in Step 5. The horn sounds two times to

indicate the sensor identification code has been

matched to the driver side rear tire, and that the

TPMS sensor matching process is no longer

active. The TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message on

the DIC display screen goes off.

9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF.

10. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure

level as indicated on the Tire and Loading

Information label.

11. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems.

 

Just had to do this myself.

Does this work for non-GM / non-factory tpms sensors?  

 

I replaced factory wheel/tires with new as well as new TPMS sensors but they're not calibrated

    • I have the same running boards on my truck and I do agree they are bulky. I also find myself stepping over them when getting in and out of the truck. Besides providing protection to the rocker panels, they aren't very useful.  I will be replacing them soon with the Amp Powersteps.

    • Thanks newdude!  By the time manual selection is needed, I'm probably too much of a control-freak to depend on the transmission sensing braking to activate automatic downshifting.  I would be anticipating the situation and already be manually downshifting.   This truck replaced a 2004.5 LLY diesel with the Allison 5-speed.  Putting it in T/H made noticeable differences (when the torque converter locked, upshift points, downshift behavior).  On this 2024 gasser with the 10L1000 I haven't been able to detect much, if any, difference.  Ok, I can never tell now when the torque converter locks up.  But I also don't notice differences in shifting.  For downhills, I've probably already manually downshifted by then anyway.  Since it's also more awkward (than the 2004.5) to engage/disengage I don't even bother.  Or maybe it doesn't really matter with just a 3k lb. camper in the bed?   Thanks also for the list of reasons the charging system might select various voltages.  However, what I am seeing doesn't fall into any of those categories.  It very definitely, and very consistently, rises after coasting/braking.  Maybe not immediately, but not very long after coasting/braking.  Very consistently drops voltage when no longer coasting/braking.  It might also be interacting with the camper battery charging (I might disconnect the camper and see if it changes the charging behavior).  I also need to recheck turning on headlights for when I want to force it to charge the camper.   Another JR, in June I converted the camper to LiFePO4.  Since it's not a good idea to try to charge lithiums directly using truck, I installed a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger (which BTW is AMAZING!!).  Being cheap, I only had to buy that one item (besides the battery, of course) to do the conversion.  The camper OEM 120v battery charger (only 19 years old and works perfectly) and the truck feed the input to the DC-DC charger (not at the same time).  But I didn't want the camper charger feeding back to the truck so I kept the old separator.  I considered replacing the separator with a 30amp diode but that means more work and might add another 1/2 volt drop.  One thing that surprised me was the voltage drop over the long 10awg wire run, so I can only charge smoothly at 8 amps (because the DC-DC charger is completely configurable).  Another reason I don't want an added voltage drop with the diode.  I might also be a little lazy but all this work is being done under the sink with a small cabinet opening.
