3rd cat is not monitored and it is NOT HOLLOW... It has media inside and can be drilled and knocked out really easy.

So when getting a new exhaust installed, it may be a good idea to get rid of that and just do dual pipes from the other two cats?

I don't think it will be as loud if you do that. My '98 had true duals from the factory, someone replaced the 1 big dual in/dual out factory muffler with 2 Flowmasters and later on I replaced them with 2 Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers because the other ones were in bad shape (looked like it was done when the truck was new and the truck was about 15 years old when I patched up the exhaust). So I had true duals from to back with an X pipe and it wasn't as loud as my '14 with factory single exhaust up to the muffler which is a Super 44 and is single in/dual out. I left everything in front of the muffler alone and just had them replace from the muffler on back and it's very loud and aggressive.

I was more so looking at doing dual pipes into a dual in - dual out muffler. I just figure two separate pipes would flow better than one.

But, I'm also asking because i could be wrong. Just seems like it would be better... to me.

Couldn't figure out how, or if I could add another picture to a previous post, but here's a pic of the GM valve........certainly doesn't look as substantial as the Borla version shown in my last post.

What happened to your pictures?

This is probably a stupid question but will I see any performance gains or mpg changes from a aftermarket muffler? I want to get rid of stock muffler and flapper and replace with probably a flow master or magnaflow. I want a deep growl and rumble. Any info would help

OK Gents, I really liked my Corsa cat-back exhaust, but had to move on. The quality, fit, finish and initial sound was very impressive and no drone at all (I turned off AFM too)...BUT...after driving it for a few months, i realized it was just too loud for me on the highway. Most of my driving was on local roads with speeds up to 60 and occasionally on one of our toll roads where the speed limit is 80 mph. And that's where the issue is...when driving speeds above ~65, it's just too loud. No drone, just loud. Below ~65, you can't hardly hear it. Went on a day trip and realized how loud it was. Taking a longer road trip with the Corsa would not be fun at all.

So, I ordered a GM Borla and had it installed today. Normally I would do it myself, but with temps over 100 degrees, I decided to pay a muffler shop. If you want a great buy on the Corsa, PM me or pop on over to the For Sale section to see the listing...Yes, REV, I should-a listened to ya'!

None at all.

I was just curious because right now. The truck has a delete pipe, but I feel it doesn't shift right and now the flapper valve makes noise when you hit the gas and also my gas mileage took a good hit from the stock muffler.

Are you sure the flapper isn't stuck partially closed. How close to flapper is the weld on delete pipe? You might crawl under truck and manipulate the flapper by hand to verify travel. Should move very easily.

Does anyone know if I'll run into issues with cutting out the second cat? I took a real quick look and didn't notice any wires going to it so it doesn't look like its monitored. Just want a hair more sound and I'll be happy and I figure that's the easiest way

    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
