Well, I have the console installed and it was a little harder than others have described it. Thank God I had a good friend who is mechanically inclined helping me out. The console for the Denali worked just fine. There were a few other items not mentioned by others on here that you should be aware of.

 

First, the wiring harness on the middle seat is a bear to strip out of the seat! I had to do some major disassembly on the seat to extract the harness. If there is a junction somewhere it is not under the console. Because of this I was hesitant to cut anything off of the truck. I ended up using the seat harness to wire the back half of the console. The rear 12V outlet, 12V outlet in the console compartment and the USB/SD Card/ Mini plug connections are all covered here. Unfortunately there is a switch and LED that are not for the console lid. I ended up stripping the harness that comes with the console. I figured I could replace that harness if I messed up. I took the entire harness apart and used the wiring for the switch and LED lamp. I extended one of the wires due to the routing to the front of the console along the same path the original harness used. Problems were that with the original harness the plugs did not all reach to the new locations on the console. I had to really stretch things to the rear most 12V outlet. I also had to cut some of the sheathing material for the two connections in the console box as they go out two different paths.

 

On the hook-ups for the plate near the front of the console.... The 110V plug is just transferred from the dash outlet as you get rid of that panel. Same can be said for the 12V outlet. Problem is you now have two 12 volt outlets! I just jumped from one to the other and soldered the wires. I got the plug from the harness that original came with the console as I had already started cannibalizing it. You only need about 6 inches of wire with the plug. Now, that only leaves that stinking 3X USB outlet.

 

My thoughts on this are simple. The original console wiring does not include any of the front wire connections meaning they must be wired separately from the truck. The only harness connections are for the USB portion of the plug in the console and a huge 40+ pin plug that is major overkill with about 8 wires only being used. So my thought is that since GM decided to wire the two rear most 12V outlets together that I could wire the two front 12V outlets together. Now for that stinking 3X USB feature... I believe there has to be a separate connection on the radio for this additional cable! OR a two cable connection on the OEM console trucks. So my thought is I am going to check the radio for this connection. I'll bet there is a blank spot for it somewhere.

 

I still have to run 12V always to the two wires I ran forward for the LED lamp in the console box. I am going to put on a Delphi wire plug to both ends to be able to unplug it as needed. Also, just an FYI, the two rear most 12V outlets are on with ignition power only as the two front ones are 12V with the key off.

 

Lastly, there are quite a few pieces that are no longer used from the dash when you install this properly. Another item is a brace cover going from the dash to the floor. You must remove this cover or the driver's side console cover will not fit.

There is a second port on the HMI where the front USB ports are wired into, but the port is not there unless you have the console from the factory. Different part number. On the 2014 trucks anyway. On the 2015 trucks they all have the 2 port version. On the bench seat models the second port connects to the single USB in the glove box. Check my gallery, I pulled the glove box and took some pics of the HMI in a 2015.

All righty then. Does any one know if the HMI is the box that is replaced when updating to the Factory Navigation system?

if you did what i did ( post 321 in this topic) it could have been easier because everything are already in the console so this way the light in console and switch can work as oem ......and also you didn't have to modify for the rear 12v outlet

.......only need to exchange the usb cable because connector and also for the 3 front usb you need to plug it in hmi and running 12v+ and ground even if they can't read music from usb key but at least they can be use to charge cell or something else.........

 

but if everything work for you , it is the main objectif :)

you will love the very big trunk in the console :)

Where did you find the big connector on the seat? Is it under the passenger seat carpet?

The jump seat trucks don't have that connector. People have been cutting the big connector off the console harness and splicing the necessary leads.

 

The portion of the HMI in the pictures is directly behind the glove box, near the in cabin air filter.

I had a 2014 Black Sierra that I swapped a jump seat for a full console. Yes it was worth it, but I had to sell the truck and before selling it I swapped the seat and console back. I now have a complete black console with a cup holder that I purchased separately. If you're interested in it, please let me know ([email protected]). It was installed for 4,000 miles and is in new condition.

I am looking for a 2014 jet black leather jump seat as I am trying to go from a center console to the Jump seat (crazy i know haha) but I am having a hard time locating one..

 

does anyone still have a Jet Black leather jump seat from when they did the console swap that they want to sell?? let me know or shoot me a pm, Thanks

    • Conditions for Meeting a Cold Start   The ignition voltage is between 10 and 15 V. The barometric pressure (BARO) is more than 75 kPa. The engine coolant temperature (ECT) at start-up is less than 42°C (108°F). The intake air temperature (IAT) is between 2–32°C (36–90°F). The engine is OFF for greater than 6 hours or the following conditions must be met: The start-up IAT minus start-up ECT are within 12°C (22°F). The start-up ECT minus start-up IAT are within 50°C (90°F). Fuel level is between 25 and 75 %.   Circuit/System Verification Verify that all I/M System Status indicators report YES, and that no I/M Test DTCs are present.If any I/M Test DTCs are set Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. If no I/M Test DTCs are set All OK. Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System Set Procedure   Warning: Refer to Road Test Warning. Note: Do NOT touch the accelerator pedal until told to do so. A change in TP Sensor angle or an increase in engine speed may invalidate this portion of the test.   Note: An I/M Test DTC will not be stored or erased from the ECU except at the end of trip processing, which occurs 5 s after ignition OFF.   Ensure that the vehicle meets the conditions for a cold start listed above. If the EVAP I/M System Status indicator displays NO, perform the EVAP Service bay test if applicable. Turn OFF all of the accessories; HVAC system, other electrical loads, including aftermarket/add-on equipment, etc., and open the hood.   Set the vehicle parking brake and ensure the vehicle is in park for automatic transmission or neutral for manual transmission.   Start and idle the engine for 2 min.   Close the hood, release the parking brake and Accelerate at part throttle to 72–80 km/h (45–50 mph) with this speed maintained until the engine reaches operating temperature, 8–10 min.   Continue operation under these conditions for an additional 6 min.   Accelerate at part throttle to 90 km/h (55 mph) with this speed maintained for 2 min.   Release the accelerator pedal for at least 10 s. This will allow the vehicle to enter the decel fuel cut off.   Safely stop the vehicle, with the engine in drive for automatic or neutral with the clutch pedal depressed and parking brake applied for manual. Allow the vehicle to idle for 2 min.   Shift the vehicle to park for automatic and neutral for manual. Turn OFF the ignition and exit the vehicle. Do NOT disturb the vehicle for 45 min.   Observe the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System Status with a scan tool. All of the I/M System Status indicators should display YES.   If the EVAP I/M System Status indicator displays NO, turn OFF the ignition, ensure that the vehicle meets the conditions for a cold start, and repeat steps 6-11 three more times, or until the EVAP I/M System Status indicator transitions to YES. If the indicator continues to display NO, refer to the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System DTC Table to identify the DTCs that did not run.   If any of the I/M System Status indicators display NO, refer to the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System DTC Table for the indicator which did not display YES. The I/M System DTC Table identifies the DTCs associated with each I/M System Status Indicator.   Observe the I/M Test DTC information with a scan tool. Verify there are no I/M Test DTCs present. If an I/M Test DTC is set, diagnose the DTC using the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle and refer to Inspection/Maintenance System Check.   Observe the engine DTC information with a scan tool. Verify no DTCs are present. If a DTC is set, diagnose using the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. After repairs, perform the Inspection/Maintenance Complete System Set Procedure to verify no further DTCs are set.       Looks like one procedure to me.  Repeated as necessary.
    • My 2020 AT4 6.2 has had the valve spring issue addressed at ~200 miles, front cover/pump replaced at 18k, water pump at 34k and idler pully at 65k.  I would agree with ditching by 100k unless you elect to go with upgraded hardware...say built 10l80 and an lt4 or l8p swap.
