This means I should be able to run:

HMI -> Front Console Hub (Green to Grey cable)

HMI -> Inner Console Hub (Black to Brown cable)

Front Console Hub -> Glove Compartment Port (generic Mini USB extension cable) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015HKPDAE?pf_rd_p=d1f45e03-8b73-4c9a-9beb-4819111bef9a&pf_rd_r=HJVW9D9NJGNQETAPW9T4

Update:

I finally got a case of the not-lazys long enough to try this. I rearranged my setup as described above and am happy to say that (for the moment) everything is now working. All USB ports play media as well as AUX.

At first AUX didn't work. This port seems really touchy. It kept saying no other devices connected. I was testing it with a little Sandisk MP3 player. I finally swapped it out for my phone and then it started playing. I later swapped the Sandisk player back and it worked, too. I don't know what the sensitivity is for detecting the input. I doubt I'll ever really want to use it, anyway.

pgamboa, any updates on when that shop you're working with will be resuming business? I'll be looking to do the center console swap in the next month or two.

Still working on it. I am working with another supplier and trying to get the best price possible to pass on the savings. Also, note that there are a TON of options for things like trim. So we are working on the most common type of console requests.

Hoping by next week... I should have something.

Looking at 2018 LT Z71 trucks now.   One question that maybe someone can answer.  Has anyone looked at adding a 2 port USB like on the front of the console to the rear opposite of the 12v plug?  See the picture... Would not have to have the full connectivity, just charging...  I will be putting a console in a new truck if I do not get one with it...

Looking at doing that to mine.  Actually, looking at (already have the parts for) replacing the DC outlet with a tandem USB outlet and a slave set on the other side, power only on both sides.

I have a question the consoles I hope someone can help with.  Trying to avoid ordering a replacement console that doesn't work/match.  I have the top and side trim pieces so no worry there.

The situation:  My 2017 Sierra 1500 SLT came with a factory center console.  The console was destroyed when someone decided they wanted the console vault that was in it.

Dealership told me I need GM part # 84199890 replacement console to replace with the black interior with white/silver stitching.   I would love to get the wireless charging to work as part of this ordeal.  Reading through the threads, looks like GM part # 84288040 is from the 2018, and the wireless charging works.  Anyone know if this console is compatible with a 2017 truck?

I attached a picture of the connector from my original console if that helps.

Also, pgamboa, happy to donate my original harness to you after I get a new console if it helps your services.

Thanks in advance for any help,

-SSam

Ha! That’s funny using my pic to ask that. Seems like a good idea though for passengers to use

Hey Phil,

The 84288042 is backordered all over with no ETA. Is the only difference between the 8042 and 8045 the chrome handle? Do you know if the 8045 will fit a Silverado?

Thanks,

Jim

FYI...8045 is backordered everywhere as well. I'll just have to wait it out.

    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
    • I gotta say, I'm enjoying your narration. The troubles you've been having are amusing as you describe them. It's good to see that you're finally getting some satisfaction out the old beast though.
