Do I need to order the extra USB cable? I'd like to get the three USBs in the front to allow charging and connecting to the radio, and the inside USBs to just allow charging.

Great topic. While sometimes I wish I had the extended center console (as opposed to the seat console), I barely ever use the three 12V ports, or the three USB ports that I already have, as it is. I even put a 4-port USB hub inside the armrest ... never used it yet, nor have any guests in my truck, including several long road trips. If you work on the go a lot and need to charge multiple devices, then that would make sense. In my case, not so much. I drive a total of about 15 miles per day, since I take the train to work everyday.

The other thing is, in all of my previous vehicles, that area to put stuff in the center console, just seemed to always get filled with dust and crap, always was a pain in the arse to keep clean and looking nice, etc. - I'll just stick with my seat console. With three cup holders, I usually just use one for my drink, one for my dip cup, and one for my phone - works out fine. In addition, my wife likes to put her purse on the floor up front, center, which isn't possible, if the extended center console is there. She agreed to let me get this truck and she handles the finances ... gotta keep her happy, lol.

to do this you need to plug the 3 usb with connectors and usb that normally plug in the center socket (under armrest)

and no you won't need extra usb except if you want the center socket as charger

for my part i keep the 3 usb only for charging because i'm always afraid to broke a usb key in socket because its location........the one under the armrest is safer for me and also because i have sd car reader in it too ..........i use only sd card in fact for music........more little

I just ordered the GM usb cable from Amazon. Hoping this install will be smooth. :)

I think it's fantastic that you guys are all helping each other out with all of this shared information on how to do all this stuff, that's great. This forum is second to none. One lesson I learned when I bought my truck (and my salesperson even told me this) ... the less stuff your truck comes with, the cheaper it is, to add other stuff later. She showed me the invoice on a few other vehicles - if a Tahoe comes with the GPS Navigation - the added cost to the vehicle price, is over $2,000. So, I went back a week later, and had it put in my Silverado for $750. I don't know what the center console part you guys are adding, costs on the invoice of an LTZ, but I guarantee you it's a hell of a lot more, than if you buy it afterwards.

Personally, one other reason I like having the jumper seat console, is because you can move it forward a bit, which you can't do with the full center console. My armrest was a little bit too far back for my tastes, and if I pulled the seat back, gas pedal was too far away (I'm 5'10"). So I simply removed the bolt covers on the floor, moved it forward about an inch and a half, and now it's perfect. No one will ever use that thing for a seat, anyways.

Well my bracket showed up today. Still waiting for the others. Wasn't sure if it all would be shipped together or separate.

anybody know the difference between denali and w/o denali?

The Denali says "Denali" on the console I believe is the only difference.

So the console itself and the two side pieces also came in. Now just waiting for the top piece to come in.

I see two wiring connectors: a big whitish connector and the brown USB connector.

Dumb question but does the cup holder come with the top piece or is it separate?

Should come with the cup holder. The trim piece seems to always lack the cup holder on the ones for sale on ebay.

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
