I have my windows done the same but I also have my entire windshield from top to bottom done at 35% and never have had any problems with law enforcement.

WOW, I would like to ride in that at night to see what it is like.

It's not too bad, it helps a lot with bright lights coming at you. I also have the morimoto upgraded bulbs and a 30" bar behind the grille so the windshield isn't much if an issue.

I can see where that much light would help

I did my whole windshield at 50% with a 5% legal strip at the as1 line. 50% is tough to tell it’s on there so with my legal strip hopefully a cop just sees that. I haven’t had any issues so far.

All you guys with your tinted windshields.  Sunglasses seem cheaper than fix-it tickets to me

(They do look pretty cool)

I live in NH where we have a law on the books for no tint on windshield or front windows. All rears can have tint.

I personally like the tint for two reasons. #1 Security. If I'm driving around a bad neighborhood I don't want people to easily see in. For one tinting hides a lot of information about who is in the truck, but it also gives you the opportunity to look around more focused without causing alarm (people can't tell where you are looking or what you're looking at). Plus if I see something it gives me time to orient myself in a way to face a potential threat and have everything in order (seatbelt off, firearm in a more accessible position, etc.) #2 Because it looks cool.

That said, I had gotten harassed a bit for it by a singular state trooper who works out of an area I frequent and decided that it's not worth the constant hassle by LEOs (or one in particular). Your milage may vary.

Tell you what though, for a state with the motto "Live free or die" we have a lot of dumb laws on the books. Still no seatbelt or helmet laws though, thank god.

I'd do it if I could to ease up on the six months of summer sun baked interior I have to deal with here.  The LEOs in my area are eager to stop and chat with folks and the reasons you like it are the reasons they hate it, especially in the bad neighborhoods.

I see both sides - just thought I'd try for a joke.  It really does make the trucks look good.

Wow I think I would pass on that much tint. Looks great tho.

It’s not bad at all. 20% on sides to match rear, 50% on whole windshield is really amazing. I don’t need to wear sunglasses inside the truck anymore. It’s also great at night, I can see great and other cars headlights don’t bother me anymore.

CA law used to be no tint (other than factory) on front drv/pass/windshield. Strip can be on windshield extending no further than 6" from the top and/or bottom from the windshield. As of Jan1 the drv/pass front windows can be tinted up to 30% (allowing 70% VLT). Keep in mind that the windows from the factory are about 12-15% so that can add up quick. CHP are all armed with light meters that can instantly measure light levels. While it's only a "fix it" ticket the cost of tint removal for ticket write-off isn't very cheap if you can't do it yourself.

Having said that all of my windows are tinted to 50% except for my windshield. :D

A lot of it depends on the mood of the officer and circumstances.

Didn't mean it to come off as so serious. Just explaining on some additional benefits of tint over sunglasses.

Decided the hard way that it is going to get a levelling kit and A/T tires soon...

I pulled over to reply to a text, and the shoulder was pure ice. By the time the truck had stopped sliding it was half way into the ditch, and the more I tried to get out the further into the ditch it slide. Even the tow truck had a hard time, the truck wanted to go straight and not up and out...

I don't think the A/T tire would actually have stopped me from going into the ditch, but they may have helped get myself out. With a little more meat to the treads, the tires might have had a chance of pulling me out. And the levelling kit will give me the clearance for a bigger tire, giving me more clearance on the ground. There were a number of factors that screwed me here, so who really knows. 6" and 35's could've gotten stuck here...

Nice truck and sorry to hear you got stuck. When I lived up north, I had a level kit with 33” Mt tires. Help save me plenty of times. Did your truck have any damage due to sliding into the ditch?
