Just bought a 2014 sierra 4x4 and ordered the 2" kit to level it out. On rough country's website they say that this kit only allows for up to a 32" tire, and I am looking to put 33s. I am new to GM, what's the biggest tires that I can fit?

The common practice is 285s. I have Cooper AT/3s in LT285-70-17 on my 2" level and according to Cooper those are 32.83".

I've talked to several people about this and they are running 275/60R20 with a two inch lift. Ive been told by two people they are running 275/65R20 with no problems. I've seen one on a dealers lot with 285/65R20 with just a RC front level was told by the sales man they did not rub anywhere but I did not drive the truck.

DanielAcosta i bought the 2" RC leveling kit instead of the 2.5" kit. only difference between the two is that I didn't do a thing to rear block. does this make a difference in tire size? how do you like your toyos? thats the exact tires that I am looking at

Measure your stock wheelwell height to get a starting point; you should be about 36" in front and 38.5" in the rear if you're stock. I know my tires are about 2.5" taller diameter than stock, so half of that adds to the wheelwell height. Since my front wheelwell is 4" taller than the stock trucks on my dealer's lot, my lift is just over 2.5" in the front with no change to the rear. The level kit, wheels, and tires were already installed by the dealer before I ever saw the truck, so I don't know what brand the level kit is.

 

The rear is never a problem, so your only concern is clearance at full lock in the front. Besides tire height and lift, the offset of your wheels makes a difference, too, so without doing a test fit, you never know for sure. My tires do not stick out beyond the wheel wells, and just barely clear/touch the back of the front wheelwells at full lock. Pics are in my profile.

 

Regarding the Toyos: highly recommend. I had these exact tires on my 07 Tundra that I traded for the 14 Sierra. They were excellent for 65K miles on my Tundra, and so far (17,500 miles) have performed equally well on the Sierra. Part of the appeal for buying this particular Sierra is that it already had the tires on it I would have installed anyway, and it already drove perfectly straight with no vibration, so there was nothing left for me to do besides add a matching spare.

 

So, measure your wheelwells and make an educated guess based on your wheel offset as to whether or not the 34" Toyos will fit without rubbing. That 1/2 inch might make a difference, but you won't know for sure until you install it. If your stock rake is 2.5 inches or more, which it probably is, I personally would go with the 2.5 instead of the 2.0 kit. If you plan on a lot of hauling that will compress the rear end, you might want to mod the back as well. Good luck.

installed the leveling kit and tinted the windows today. now to get those tires put on!

i did the 2 inch RC leveling kit on my 2014 silverado, RC says to run a 32 but you know im going with 33s.. gonna run them on my stock 17s.. ive seen online, people running 35s with just the rc leveling kit on the new 14spost-135286-0-25764500-1413470789_thumb.jpg heres one example

    • This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.  
    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.  
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
    • Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
